OMG, this was an amazing experience. Teressa, the owner-teacher was wonderful, encouraging, and helpful, explaining everything step by step. I made a custom glass fusing project; not the normal coaster size but a gorgeous 10 x 10 sun catcher. She provided all the materials and tools, will fire it, and I can pick it up in a day or two. I've never done this before, but it was so much fun and the result was beautiful. She also teaches glass blowing (I'm going to take that class, too!) and has demonstrated at the Pink Palace for years. The only drawback is that she's only in town one week a month. But if you're at all interested, call her.

It might be a great place to go, but I don't have any idea. I tried calling for about 2 weeks to set up a surprise class for my husband. I never even got a call back saying that they couldn't accommodate me. So sad.

Blown Fuse Glass Studio @ Studio 1688 was the location for my group event. Owner Teresa White was very accommodating, explaining every step of the process, and helping our group of novice glass fusers with special requests and advice on what might look best. This is a great activity for a group- less expensive than the painting-and-wine, and you will go home with a small blown glass ornament or pick up your fused glass pieces a couple days later. I made a magnet, which slumped down really smoothly and looks pretty nice for a first attempt! Friends assembled glass trivets, pendants, and magnetic vases. I said "good for kids", but specifically mean kids 10 & up. Glass shards are easy to run your hand over on the work surface, and instructions must be carefully followed, for safety's sake.Private groups can be accommodated, or check our groupon for deals on group classes on Friday or Saturday. My one tiny suggestion is to have an email address on the website to make communication easier. My partner and I attended a glass blowing class here and loved it. The owner was amazing and very personable, the instruction was easy to follow, the atmosphere was positive, and the finished products are customized to the student (since we are the ones making the glass art). We enjoyed the class so much we intend to go back for her flame working class. Highly recommend her to anyone wanting to learn something new and exciting.
