Soi Number 9 food truck is one of our secret go-to's... I take away 1 star because it's just too pricey... and also unpredictable (good luck planning to eat here- come Thursday they may not even be open). But I can't dock them too much because they make consistently excellent fare. Even dishes we hate like Khao Soi are good here. I mean they often use the wrong noodle for dishes and not much is super authentic. But whatever they make it turns out to be really, really good... And you can' take that away from them...Like I said, this is one of our go-to's...

Stopped by Soi Number 9 this afternoon for lunch & LOVED my basil chicken bowl! I so appreciate that they let you substitute vegetable base for the usual rice base on their bowls. This is such a great option for a quick lunch that's still flavorful and filling. There is plenty of seating here to go around & lots of other places in the atrium to grab drinks and snacks from as well I'd you're sticking around to study.

This place is still amazing! They now have a food truck and a regular location at a university (that I think is only open for lunch). I love this food truck and eat at it anytime I see it. I have enjoyed pretty much everything I have gotten here and haven't found anything I hated. If I'm not sure what I want, the owner is great at recommendations. This past time I found them at the Botanic Garden's Pokemon Go event. I got the Khao Mun Gai Rice Bowl and honestly I liked the rice way more than the chicken. I noticed the menu has a fried chicken version so I will have to try that one and see if I like that mixture better. In general, you should stop here and try something. It's all great and I love it! I've been following Chef Tim's truck for about 5 years finally made it to his permanent location inside the UT health building. 5 star food. 5 star service. 5 star smiling attitude as always. If you have never tried Thai food take a chance and try Soi Number 9. They have something for everyone. I like the Basil chicken personally it's sweet, savory and spicy but haven't had anything bad.

2 stars for friendly service. 1 more star for the Crispy Ginger Tofu.Other than that, this is Not authentic Thai food.Perhaps they are Americanizing it for less adventurous pallets? We ordered: Crispy Ginger Tofu, Fat Rice Noodles with chicken and the Spring rolls.Everything was very sweet. No spicy Thai peppers, no acid from limes or even rice vinegar, no fish sauce...no crunchy peanuts or carmelized garlic. My chicken, that came with the fat noodles, was blanched. The sauce was thickened with a lot of cornstarch. It was bland and very gloopy. The tofu was good, but you only got five thin strips.Everything was mostly noodles and rice. The tofu came with big planks of raw, unseasoned cucumbers. They weren't pickled. What a missed opportunity for flavor! Not even a sprinkle of salt. Please take a chance Soi Number 9 and embrace your delicious Thai heritage. Own those red chili's, the acid from the limes, mangoes, the funk from the fish sauce, the crispy shallots and garlic, the fresh pop of herbs and pickle those cucumbers. I know you got it in you!

Botanical Garden food truck night!!! Soi Number 9 you had me at Thai! Delicious and flavorful tofu rice curry dish. Good portions. So worth the 40 minute wait which didn't feel like much of a wait as I listened to live music and talked with friends. I also ordered the veggie spring rolls. They were hot, crunchy and full of flavor!! The only thing missing is an iced green. I'll be back!

I used to live in San Francisco so Ive had my fair share of Thai, and this food ranks high on my list. Its fresh and flavorful and the Fried Khao Mun Gai (basically fried chicken over rice) is a great starter dish if you want to try thai for the first time. Its the spice and the sauce for me. Also, licking that good sauce from your fingers is allowed (ask for extra, it's that good).

One of my most fave spots to grab lunch. Now they have a physical location in the UT Memphis campus. Delicious and authentic food and the owners are super sweet. Love their khao soi. The Panang curry is delicious too, slightly mild for my taste. I always ask for extra hot sauce on the side. The food is not too greasy either, so doesn't make you feel guilty lol.Yum food. Check it out, you won't regret!
