Smoky City BBQ

My son and I enjoyed the food quite a bit. I got there too late to get the ribs, but the pulled pork was tasty. My son loved his fried bologna and fries. We got the food to go. The guy running the place was very friendly and spoke to us while he prepared our food. It was definitely a place locals frequent.

This place is definitely a hidden gem. The food is always cooked fresh to order and the owner is very nice. The first time I ate here I was hooked, I was supposed to eat at another establishment, but they were closed, they lost a customer that night bc I haven't been back since. Everything they cook is delicious and I've tried a large variety of menu items. Call your order in to avoid long wait times, but I personally don't mind waiting for fresh food.

Sort of a mixed review for us. Friendly staff at the window. The catfish nuggets and fried okra were probably the best we have ever had. Large portion that we could not finish, despite being so good. We ordered and paid for cole slaw, but they neglected to put it in our bag. Mistakes happen, but never a good thing even if only a $2 item. I went for the ribs and ordered the whole slab dry rub with sauce on the side. The sauce is excellent. The ribs ($21) were either overcooked dry or the previous days ribs warmed and not very good. I would not go back for the ribs. The catfish and okra would be worth a return trip. PS. they charge you 4% if you use a credit card (they didn't tell me in advance), plus a Tennessee food tax of 6.75%, which I assume is out of their control.

Stopped in for a beer and some hot tamales. Atmosphere was fun, beer was cold and the tamales were amazing! Just $5 for a platter of four! Worth a quick stop!

Great food. Great service. Great price. Treat you like family. Don't know when I'll be back but I definitely know where to go the next time I'm passing through Memphis.

Receiving 5 stars on the Yelp app we ventured Into unknown territory to try the famed 'Dry Rub' Smoky City is known to specialize in. The Full Slab was cooked to perfection and 'fall off the bone' was an appropriate term to use for our order, we received a 1/2 cup of BBQ dipping sauce to compliment our slab and my wife said the Catfish nuggets were some of the best she ever had.

Amazing!!! Wow! This place is truly a hidden gem for us - but we are SO glad we found it. This is the place tourists should come to try for real Memphis/Southern/Soul Food because it is amazing, authentic and memorable. Prices are great and the service is wonderful. Thank you for giving your customers a really great experience. We will be back again soon, and probably many more times!

I came in with a few country guys on our way back from hunting in Arkansas, we saw this spot on google and picked it. I am sure glad we did be the food was absolutely phenomenal, we will definitely be back on future trips through Memphis. The gentleman working there was very kind and talking about how they smoke their meat with us after our meal. The restaurant was very clean and all the food was hot and fresh. Highly recommend!

My friend and I had an overwhelming day and we went to find a bbq place and found smoky city. The guys there were super nice and friendly. We got two of the bbq brisket sandwiches and they were hands down the best bbq we have ever had. They really made our day. Thank you guys so much for your hard work.

Amazing food with fast and friendly service! We got into town a little late so their later hours saved the day. We got the rib sandwich, Philly, and catfish nuggets which are all highly recommended. Our sides of baked beans, cole slaw, and fries were excellent as well. We ate every bite!
