Shogun Japanese Steakhouse

I can't say enough good about Shogun tonight. They saved our birthday celebration...Great food, great service, and our Hibachi chef (Mike) was perhaps the best we've seen!We had made reservations at Benihana; however, after a horrible service experience, we left there and called Shogun. The Shogun manager worked us in on a packed night and seated us within about 10 minutes.You know, Shogun may not be the ritziest place in town, but every time we have been there they have exceed our expectations with service and quality of food.After our poor service at Benihana, Shogun is now our go-to for Hibachi!Great job, Shogun!

We reserved a room for a birthday dinner and told them a month ago they still didn't have enough staff to cover for everyone to cook our meal, we had to ask them to come clean certain areas in the room and the manager was rude and aggressive towards his employees and us. Everyone didn't do hibachi so food was made in the kitchen but came out super late or didn't get. Had to remind them we had another table didn't get they food it was just awful but the birthday lady enjoyed her guest.

Food trash and bartender trash. First and last time. Not worth $80 for two people at all.

Very good food, friendly staff and a very comfortable atmosphere. Will definitely go here again soon

When we got to shogun we were excited to experience hibachi in Tennessee as we are visiting the state but it was nothing like a normal hibachi experience their was no show or care to do anything fun for the kids that were with us and the food was covered in extra teriyaki sauce when it normally doesn't come like that. We ordered a vodka soda and the waiter came back with a vodka sprite and said they didn't have soda so he chose to give us that instead, we also ordered milk for my niece and instead of telling us they didn't have that he just didn't bring it out . When we asked for it he said they didn't carry milk and that was it lol. We ordered a Long Island ice tea and they came out with tea with no ice so we had them remake it like it should be made.. we were missing parts of our orders and it just felt very unorganized and chaotic. It felt very rushed when we were one of two tables with people at them . We will never come back

Over the years I and my family have celebrated events and just enjoyed a meal at Shoguns on Germantown Rd in Cordova. It was always a great or at least good experience until the last couple of times it began to get worse and worse. Tonight was the last time I or any of my family will give our business to this place. Let me list the problems:1. The food was mediocre, it used to great. They no longer serve the soup and the dipping sauces, unless you ask. it used to be standard part of the meal. The biggest part of our group did not receive their salads until they were finished with their meals.2. The hibachi cooks used to be exciting and fun to watch. they actually entertained you, especially the kids. Now, it seems like they cannot wait to get done and get the heck out of there.3. The server was unpleasant and not friendly. She very rarely came by to check on us and our glasses remained empty for a long time. When we were finished, we had to get up and go get our own to-go containers. I thought I would never get my check 4. A group that sat at the table adjacent to ours were celebrating their 9 year old son's birthday. They brought their own cake and needed a knife to cut the cake. They were told that the restaurant did not have a knife for them to use, not even a plastic knife. Good grief, can you believe that.5. The place looked and felt unclean.6. To top it all off, they now add an 18%, yes 18% gratuity to your check whether you like it or not. It is a glorified way of raising their prices while lowering the food quality, service and ambiance.WE WILL NEVER GO BACK. WE ARE FINISHED. WE WILL SPEND OUR MONEY IN A GOOD RESTAURANT.

The food is amazing and fills you up easily. The cook was very energetic, lively, and entertaining. The decor is basic but it goes with the whole theme. Overall, I recommend it

Went to Shogun last night for my mom and son's birthday. We had the best experience! Our waiter Kavon was awesome!! He was fun and attentive. The food was delicious and the service was great and fast. We used to go to Shogun all the time but over the past couple years, it has gone downhill. I would say it was probably due to Covid. Covid hurt a lot of businesses. All I can say is the last 3 times we have been there over the past year, we have had great experiences. They have definitely made a comeback! Thanks again to Kavon.. you rocked it!!

This place automatically adds 18% gratuity. I guess that's why they don't clean or wait on you. Both restrooms dirty, toilets plugged up, no paper towels- an hour after opening. On Mother's Day all tables with moms given a rose except ours. Waste of money going here.
