The carpet is so sticky, it took great effort to walk. Nasty, nasty, nasty.
Not one single drop of water after the cook left the bathroom.
I love how big the pieces of fish are. Really good fish.
Philly roll with smoked salmon. There were six!
Takeout special
My only complaint here was the price for such a small serving of calamari.
Not too bad considering the leftovers we have
Sesame chicken
Shrimp Tempura. It looked great but it still had no flavor after dumping lots of salt on it. I don't recommend.
Just as we were leaving, the grill is still dirty. We asked them to cook in the kitchen.
Wonton Soup
The crazy roll
Fried cream cheese wontons
$7.00 for this? I was expecting at least twice as much food for $7.00 calamari. I took 3.50 off the tip.
Shrimp and mushroom dish
Everything is sticky.
Triple wonder with shrimp, beef, and chicken

We visited this spot during a stop over in Memphis. Our grandson wanted Hibachi and noodles. Food was very good. We also ordered sushi rolls and was surprised. While food was good, service was mediocre. The chef did not interact with the table and did not engage with us. There is an automatic 18% gratuity added so there is no urgency to provide excellent service. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. Shogun represents for us the key debate about restaurants, what do you value more, great food, average experience or average food, great experience? Your call.

An overall positive experience. The menu offered a wide variety of traditional and creative Asian dishes, and the flavors were spot on. The service was friendly and attentive, although it took a bit longer than expected for the food to come out. All in all, I would definitely return to Shogun and can recommend it to others looking for a good meal.

The food was very fresh! I tried out a simple salmon roll to assess their fish, and it was really good! Definitely will try out more of their sushi in the future. Also had hibachi and it was much better than other hibachi places around here! Will come again.

The food is good, price is fair, and it is the only option for this area.First of all, the name is Shogun which is an absolute slap in the face to the great nation they've moved in to in order to receive citizenship, set up shop, and earn a wage from it's natural born American citizens. I didn't know what a shogun was until I looked at Google. The name refers to Japan's war leaders (or in this case, warmongers). After all the atrocities Japan has unleashed upon this planet, they come to my hometown and open Shogun restaurants everywhere. Another insult is the Mitsubishi cars and trucks driving up and down our highways. When they flew those Mitsubishis over Pearl Harbor, perhaps they didn't realize what Americans are capable of. It took a special Boeing B-29 with American ingenuity from Oak Ridge Tennessee to bring peace to the world. Japan has invaded and occupied Korea and Manchuria, and Taiwan, Nanjing, The Philippines, just to name a few. Japanese aggression has caused so much suffering, and the Ministry of Education still continues to omit any of these transgressions or important lessons. I do regret FDR's internment of American citizens for no reason other than being of Japanese descent. No American should ever be denied their freedoms ever again! By all accounts these camps were not as brutal or severe as what prisoners were forced to endure under Japanese detainment. Especially nothing like Ishii and his logs in unit 731! I would never move to Hiroshima and set up a sandwich shop called The Enola Gay and bake sandwich bread in the shape of the Little Boy. That would not be appropriate and I would be run out of town. That is how I feel about the name on this sign. The Japanese have given us some wonderful food though, and that's why we're here. And I love it. Here is my review for Shogun in Oakland Tennessee. The food here is actually quite good. This is the first time the wife and I have eaten here, but we've ordered takeout at least five times. We always find a little something extra in our bags and I've finally solved the mystery why. You do get a freebee for a $25 or $30 takeout order. Service: these guys are always friendly, patient, and willing to help. They are always accurate and quick. Very hard working people. Everything you see on my receipt was ordered at once so I suggested she write it down. She didn't and I was impressed how she was able to memorize such a large order so perfectly!Menu: the menu is only one page Plus the lunch on the back. The menu has lots of choices, but not much in the description department. If you aren't specifically skilled in the ethnic food, you have little chance figuring out what to order. The menu could use an overhaul. Multi page with pictures and descriptions. The sign out front also needs to be replaced.Sushi: not the very best in the region, but the only option around here. The sushi is good, but the menu is very lacking. Your basics are there, but not much else.Price: while this food generally costs more than other foods, they are right in line with the rest of their competition. There is a lunch menu that is easier on the pocket book. Sushi is expensive wherever you go. I drank Japanese beer for 3.50 a bottle. I think this is reasonable considering other places gouge as much as they can. Soda is $1.75 which is a great price these days. We spent nearly 60 plus tip, but had beer and sushi, and took a lot home. It ain't cheap McDonald's, but the quality does justify the price for me.I was at five stars till I finished my meal and went to the restroom. The old man who I assume cooked our food came out as I was going in and I went to the sink and found it to be completely dry! At least he'd already cooked our meal! I guarantee there was water all over that sink when I left. I might have gone down to three stars for this, but I have to average all my previous meals which were all five stars. I do not hold these particular people accountable for history, but their choice of name could have been more tasteful. The tip I left on the table was not meant to be an insult. Tipping in Japan is not nice.3/27/16 I am going down to 3 stars. The carpet, tables, chairs, menus, everything is sticky today. We ate at a hibachi table only because it was the only place large enough to accommodate our party. Only 2 of us wanted hibachi, and we tried several times to explain to them we didn't want it cooked on the table. We just wanted service from the kitchen. He cooked on the table anyway (we couldn't get them to understand) and it was loud and smoky. The fire scared the baby. Then he left the cooking food unattended to go make sushi. Most of the sushi arrived late, and the hibachi grill was never cleaned. I am ready for a new place to eat. My favorite Vietnamese place burned down. I wish there was another option in Somerville or Oakland.

We have not been often but if you like Japanese they are pretty good. Good rice & egg rolls. I almost always get the California roll or crunchy roll. Both the miso soup and the egg drop soup are very good.
