Shogun Japanese Steak & Sushi

3.5 Stars:They have the typical fun show and the food is pretty good, but a bit pricy for what you get. Sometimes the meat can get over cooked and they use a ton of sauce so it can be salty. In the past this was a good place to eat for lunch (haven't been for lunch since Covid) since the 'normal' dining (non-show) has been closed. We tried to go a bit ago and had a hard time getting past the front door due to the long wait so we left. Hopefully when staffing is back up and normal they will be fully up and running. The 'normal' dining part (non-show) of Shogun was the best deal for an Asian restaurant (of the 3 total) in town with good tasting food. The place is cluttered and could use a remodel/cleaning.

This is one of my favorite places to dine. The food is wonderful. The atmosphere is good. When you eat at the grill the show is amazing. It is a great place to take your kids for a meal. The cooks are very sensitive to them and make a purposeful effort to let them know if something scary is about to happen. We often do their take out and eat at home. You can't go wrong visiting them.

I wish they would open the dining area back up for dinner. We love the sushi here better than the other local spots.

Visiting MSU and decided to order sushi to go. The hostess was so sweet and helpful. Then I sat at sushi bar and ordered a drink whileI waited. I ordered a Cali roll and the Sex and The City roll. I asked for no sesame seeds or masago and then asked for no spicy sauce. No problem!!! The food was amazing and so yum! The manager/owner was very entertaining while making everyone's rolls and gave me lots of local info for our visit. Definitely will be back!

No show at all with hibachi. Add $3 extra to anyone that wants an egg in their rice and heated on the grill. Service was lackluster at best. Prices are way to high for what you get. We will never go back.

Shogun has great chefs and the food is delicious!! The servers keep our drinks filled, and make sure you have everything you want. It's so fun to sit at the hibachi grill!!

The ambiance, food, and service were fantastic! The ambiance is a typical Japanese restaurant. It was very clean. The service was very good. They kept our drink refilled and checked on us without being over the top. The chef was great and funny too. He actually talked to us instead of just putting on a show. The food was the star of the show! The sushi was perfectly sized and not too big. Some places put a little filler with a lot of rice. Not this one! I had shrimp and scallops hibachi and my son had the chicken. They were cooked perfectly and delicious. The portion sizes were huge. We had to get a to go box.

Great hibachi chef and food! Our server made sure our drinks were constantly filled. Great value, the portions are terrific! The crab rangoon appetizer is so delicious. Great variety of sushi! Such a fun, and delicious restaurant.

Jesus is the worst habachi man ever my stomach hurt and he rude. I hate shoguns. The customer service is okay could have been better. I would not get this food again.

The food, our waitress, and our cook was amazing. What was not amazing was the mandatory tip and the manager/owners rude attitude. We were a party of 4 and we were paying separately (2 and 2), both our bills had the mandatory 18% tip. A couple we knew happen to come up for dinner as well and they sat them with us at the hibachi so the owner assumes we're now a party of 6??? I tried speaking with the manager/owner and he laughed about the whole situation. If he wanted to assume all 6 of us were together, at the very max all 3 bills should have only had 6% mandatory tip to equal the 18%.....but to charge all 3 bills the 18%, Ridiculous!! Very poor business practice. I will never be back, and I will be sure to tell all my friends and family. Word travels fast in a small town.
