my college gave students discounts for painting pottery here, and i obviously went to have fun. the experience makes me want to come here again. this place made me feel like a kid again, awkwardly trying to use paint brushes.we did a pretty ok job, no?on a more formal note, the workers here are kind and attentive. they clearly explain things, and are eager to answer questions and help you out. super family friendly, and college kid friendly, too! there's a cafe right by it too if you want to grab coffee and a pastry to enjoy while you paint.

Our visit to Seize the Clay was a surprise stop for my birthday weekend celebrations. Our instructor, Michelle, was so patient and knowledgeable. She taught my husband and I how to work the clay and how to make different vessels, emphasizing that the clay chooses what it wants to be. She even indulged my silliness and let me play Unchained Melody while recording our reenactment of the infamous pottery scene in Ghost For those who don't do the pottery class, there are tons of pre-made items that you can paint and fire in the same day to take home. We have to wait 2 weeks before we can go back and paint/fire our pieces, so this is not an activity for you if you're one for instant gratification. But this was definitely an activity that I'd been wanting to try for years, so it was an awesome surprise.

Food, Fun, & Friends! This is what you should be prepared for when you have an event with Seize the Clay. I have gone for a Lady's Night Out event as well as had them to come to a local non-profit that I worked for and either way you received more than your money's worth! The staff is friendly, the prices are affordable, and the atmosphere is always appropriate for whatever event that they are having (family night, date night, etc.). If you are a Memphian' you should absolutely check this place out!

Really enjoyed my "girls day out" @Seize the Clay. Was looking for a different way to spend the day - this was the place to go! We arrived & were greeted by Adam. The very friendly & down-to-earth store owner. He gave us a run down of what are painting experience would entail. He showed us the pottery & paint. Told us to sit down anywhere we like, and that if we had any questions, just to ask! We picked out our pieces, sat down to start painting when we noticed stamps! YAY, STAMPS!! Personally, I enjoy crafty outings, but I'm not the most artistic person on the planet. Once I saw these, I knew I was guaranteed a good time. The only thing I would have like to have seen was maybe some complimentary coffee or water. Painting can take a while - all that creativity is hard work! Adam was so attentive during our experience, answered any & all questions we had w/ a smile on his face. I will be recommending this fun spot to all my people. My experience here was fantastic and I can't wait to come back & 'Seize the Clay'

So much fun! Wine and cheese night Friday 6-10! Adults only and byob!Me and my boyfriend went because we had groupons but the prices are reasonable even without a discount. You pay for the piece you want to paint and a $7 studio fee for paints and the kiln. On Friday during the wine and cheese night, I believe the studio fee goes down to 3.50.The range of things to paint is enormous--everything from seasonal decor to plates and mugs and even Yoda. No, you read that right. You can paint your own Yoda statue. Seriously, they have something for everyone.Once you pick your piece, the employees will show you the enormous wall of paint and glazes and explain how it works. Most of this is included in your studio fee, but you can opt up a little bit with a 3$ charge for some nifty glazes with marbling effects. With all the options for paint and glaze and pottery, this does not have to add to your attic box of kitsch decor given to you by crazy Aunt Irma. They make painting something tasteful and cool really easy.Once you're finished painting, you hand your piece off to the employees who will give you a time and day it will be available to pick up, and voila! Instant night out with the girls or your boyfriend that doesn't involve a movie or a half dozen cocktails. As much as I love the cocktails, that stuff adds up, and it's nice to have a little bit of variety now and then.My boyfriend and I painted mugs for each other and it was kind of adorable watching him get all artsy. I'd highly recommend this place. They even make reservations for parties or larger groups. So don't miss out! It's relaxing and fun (especially with a glass of wine on a Friday night.)

Seize the Clay is the best! After searching for places that offer people making creations at the potter's wheel, this was one of the only places I could find! The staff was very knowledgeable and helpful! We absolutely loved our time there! I will definitely be coming back!

I love Seize the Clay. So many choices for craft projects. I'm completely hooked on glass fusing, but I do plan to try creating my own pottery eventually. Adam, Peggy and the staff are super nice and super helpful. I would visit once a week if I lived closer.
