Love this place. They sometimes change their hours on a whim but other then that it's true to its name. Very friendly staff, very clean store, and usually I feel very safe shopping here. Prices are right and they even have hot foods.

This is a perfectly fine convenience store located across the street from the Peabody Hotel. I popped in for Diet Cokes, snacks, and a few postcards. It's handy, too, if you forget your toothpaste or need some Advil. Not cheap, of course, but very convenient. Adequately clean. Friendly guy at the counter. Well stocked.

I have used this store ever since I moved downtown. I love the convenience and selection. HOWEVER, this is the third time I've tried to come here before I start work (from home) & they are closed.... if you don't open at 7 am please change the listing. Sincerely, a cranky woman that just talked herself out of bed to come get coffee and it's closed.**Update: listing says they open at 7 am, it's not 7:45 & they are still not open**

First of all, the main reason I am writing this review is because I hate that this place has such a low rating. I live downtown & have been a customer of theirs for years. I'm really glad there's a shop like this close by!Yes, as some of the poor reviews stated, the prices are a little higher than your local grocery store... what convenience store's aren't? I'm not recommending it for your weekly shopping, but for last-minute items when you don't want to leave downtown it's a great resource! They have all the things you would expect from a place like this & the staff is very friendly. If you are going to complain about the prices drive your petulant-ass out to Kroger for your bottle of water.

This place is pretty standard in the way of convenience stores. It is located on 2nd Street downtown, right across and kiddie corner from the Peabody. Aside from Walgreen's on Main, it is the closest store you can walk to from the Peabody to pick up convenience store items. I like this place because I have gotten to know the little family that owns it. They are funny and friendly, and always knocking you off your feet with some random convo. I'm shocked at the things they remember from previous visits. I usually stop there once a day while I am at work to pick up a Vitamin Water and a Skor bar or perhaps partake in one of their deli creations or fried food goodies. If you find yourself in a pinch to pick up a souvenir you can do so at Second Street. They have a bunch of Memphis t-shirts, key chains, magnets and Elvis memorabilia- for much less than their Beale Street competitors I might add.Word to the wise- they have caller I.D. Which really makes no difference- aside from the fact that one of the gals I work with happened to call and see if they carried pregnancy tests (which they do should you find yourself in the immediate need to take one!) When she got there and walked in, he recognized her from our working establishment and immediately announced to the whole of the store "Hey! Hey YOU! You looking for pregnancy test?! You call right? Here they are right here." I have never seen her turn such a bright shade of red in my life. Alright. SO the "friend" I speak of may or may not have been me. Just sayin'. ;)

A nice little neighborhood convenience store with a large selection of items.Yes its a little pricey but its convenience store that is family run in downtown Memphis its not a Walmart. I think its a great little store for what it is.

We stopped here on New Year's Eve because it was just too cold to stand on Beale Street for four hours. We had hoped to go to the Peabody deli for some hot chocolate but of course it was closed. This seemed to be our only other option and what luck! They had a hot chocolate machine. Boy it was strange, first a liquid came out, I thought it was milk but my mom seems to think it was water, and then the chocolate syrup. We opted for the small size which was a little over $2 but the cup wasn't even completely full?? Not that it mattered much, it wasn't very good, but I chugged it down so I could go back out and brace the cold. I will say that the guy working there were very nice. Once we were finished we asked where the trash can was and he took the cups for us to throw away. I'll say over all it was a warmer spot to be than out on the street!

Check the pricing. 2 bottles of water and 1 16oz sprite and the guy rung us up for $8.67. Watched him hit some buttons on the register, look at my wife, then press a couple more.BEWARE THE TOURIST RIP OFF

Wow was a surprised! Dzhamshed was amazing! I discovered my credit card was missing and traced my steps. My last stop was this store. I walked in panicked and this gentleman pulled out my CC right away. Just when I lost all hope in humanity, this honest man kept my CC safe for me. I wrote down his name as he needed to be recognized. Thank you kind honest sir!
