Sam's Donut Shop

I want to start off by saying this review is based off my first experience coming here and that maybe this isn't the norm. After going to my regular donut shop late i picked Sams because of the reviews. I walked in and felt like i was being rushed to choose from the horrible selection of donuts there( only glaze and chocolate). After eating the donuts I'm not really sure if they are actually good or not. They were kind of hard and crunchy and not soft and sweet like im accustomed. I even gave my girlfriend one to make sure i wasn't being to harsh and she agreed they were just off. Like i stated this might just be a bad day for the shop but i can tell you for certain i probably won't be coming back to find out.

What is it with the Collierville donut shops? Ugh. They only had one Bavarian eclairs in the showcase but the cashier said they had more in back. When I got to the car and opened the box I saw one of the eclairs had what looked like a half-dollar sized bite out of the top. There was no frosting on that portion and it had a hole that look a bite mark would look like. I showed the cashier and she said oh oh, and brought it to the back, where they just covered that part with more chocolate frosting. She asked me if it looked ok now. [insert crickets chirping] I asked her if somebody bit it. She didn't answer and asked me if it looked ok. I asked again if someone had bit into the donut. And without answering my question she asked me again if it looked ok. Ugh. So I just left, unhappy, and tossed the donut when I got home. Won't be back there again. We have been there a couple times before but never had service like that. Yuck. What's happened. How they could knowingly place a donut like that in the box (it wasn't covered by another donut so it was in plain site), and then not properly remedy the issue by giving me a new donut, just astounds me. Now I don't think it's a bite mark only because they're surrounded by donuts all day long I can't believe they'd just take a bite of one and try to sell it. I mean I really hope my logic is sound. But geez. Oh and the eclairs (I ate the other one) have cream on both ends but not the middle. How weird.

This place is pretty much a hidden gem in Collierville. They have the best donuts of anywhere I have been. I brought a few boxes to work and my coworkers raved about them and wanted to know where they came from. I did try a glazed but it was too thick (though thay may have just been that day) but their cake donuts are consistently awesome. They are also very friendly. I found this donut shop by accident while at the next door gas station. First going in...NO Credit - NO Debit Cards are except. Cash/Checks (who still write a (paper) check in 2018) Sigh...G-Kids wants "Donuts" So I had to leave and go find some cash. Don't carry cash, so now I know. Secondly the doughnuts are F-A-T...Flaky...and filled...with plenty of creams, jellies, jams and frostings. Powder sugar, maple bacon and nut covered adorn the top counter. Quite a selection eclairs and old fashions. The shop is cute with photos covering the walls and a seating area. There is beverages to purchase OJ, coffee, milk. Also, they sell memorabilia like t-shirts and hats. I wouldn't say that they the best. I like local and Gibson's is the Greatest. Plus+ they take credit/debit cards...!

We love this place! This is our go-to. Always a good selection and quick service. My kids get a kick out of the "bonus" donut holes when they give us those, which I think is really sweet. And when they tell you that one is hot out of the oven- listen and get a few.

This place has a great variety of special donuts. This place has been in collierville for a long time. I have been eating here almost my entire life. Chocolate sprinkles are great. The blueberry cake donuts might be the best. The cinnamon rolls are awesome. Apple fritters are good. Regular glazed is good but doesn't hold up the next day as leftovers. My favorite is the chocolate donut with peanuts on top.

Doughnuts are ok. Serves day old alot and sells them for new. The filled Doughnuts aren't filled full. Just a quick shot. Constantly raising prices. Look at board behind counter! Lol. Overall, not bad when the Doughnuts are fresh and filled fuller.

Very disappointed. Donuts were oily and overcooked. Three Rolaids later and we still feel horrible.

First of all, the hours listed are wrong. I have never seen Sam's open past noon, and they often close early.I went in for a couple doughnuts recently and I heard the solo employee coughing in the back. When he came out, he got my doughnuts bare handed. After he handed the bag to me, he turned and coughed and hacked loudly and grotesquely, "snorted", and blew his nose. I quickly left the store. When I got home, I just threw the bag and doughnuts in the trash and did a nasal wash. Sam, please tell your employee(s) not to come to work sick.

Some of the best and most fresh donuts I've ever had, reasonably priced and the workers are generally nice. It does smell of cigarettes, however it's just next to a gas station and the doughnuts are totally worth it. You should probably get there early if you want to get the good ones.
