Salsa cocina is a good place for authentic Mexican food. My favorite dish is the chicken/shrimp fajitas and chicken chimichangas. Great atmosphere with plenty seating. They have upstairs seating for private parties and the bar is nice as well. Not too expensive and they give generous portions. Great restaurant to come for birthday celebration A+

We met some work associates here because it was close to their hotel. Everything was just MEH. I ordered a Chambord Swirl margarita, that was sour tasting and without a salted rim. For my dinner I ordered the Ahi Tuna salad. The tuna was overcooked, and was absolutely not Ahi. There was really nothing special there at all, and the portions were small for the price. I would not return.

The food was fresh and vegan friendly. The service was fast and the ambience was relaxing. It was a nice lunchbreak that allowed for outdoor seating with the summer sun. The server made sure my cup was filled with sweet tea and lemonade and had a smile. I gave a four because I wish there were more for vegans besides blackbeans and rice.

Not so good. We came in for a drink. The bartender raved about the herbed steak mexicana. On the menu it was a ny strip with mole sauce. We ordered it. It was a ribeye that was crap quality (chewy like a low end steak). With a watery sauce and three slices of mushrooms. It came out medium rare though.. which was good. Now a lot of folks will think this was good. But it sucked. Mainly because the menu and item totally didnt match that was described. The steak was very low quality. The margaritas were very sugary.. even though they were the fancy especials. $12 each. This place kinda sucks. The bartenders were joking how people couldn't tell the difference between crap(meomi) and crap(clos du bois) pinot noir (yea i agree with that!). So they just poured whatever. Just a low class place in a very high class neighborhood.

First, let me begin by saying this place is a hidden gem. I'm often in the poplar area, yet I never noticed this restaurant. I decided to dine here for dinner, and I'm so happy that I did. This place definitely has a lot of traffic in and out, but the wait time is short. In the process of waiting for a table I had the bartender make me a specialty beverage of choice. This tropical flavored beverage didn't disappoint. What's even better is my table was ready upon receiving my drink. Now for the food! I ordered the chicken chimichanga as my meal of choice. Everything about the ingredients, spices, etc that are used in this restaurant are completely fresh without a doubt. This was the BEST authentic Mexican food that I've had thus far in Memphis. The service is amazing, and the manager/owner is an amazing overseer in being sure that he personally greets and meets the satisfaction of every customer. This place is great for lunch, dinner, or a fun date night.

Had a great experience for dinner on a Saturday night. We had about a 5 minute wait to be seated. Server was very attentive. Food was hot and fresh. Husband ordered fish tacos. Son had a burrito and 2 chicken tacos. I had the tequila line shrimp. It was all so good. This is a great casual spot for the family.

Food was just ok. Price was high for the quality of food. Not the best but not the worse. The service was excellent. The chips and salsa were good. I'd stay away from the tortilla soup. Lots of celery and not enough chicken. Next time in Memphis we will not be going back as there are lots of great restaurants to go to instead of just an ok one like this one.

We have been coming here for years, since it is a convenient location for us and the service is decent and always fast. The food is not great. Decided today after a $60 lunch for me and my 12 year old that I will not be back. My Colorado Chicken dish was almost inedible and my not picky son said his chimichanga was gross. Just felt like a punch to the gut when I got the check.

Avoid this place!Food is mediocre at best. They have terrible open hours and close suddenly at a moment's notice. Hosts actually told us over holidays that, once seated, we would have to hurry to order/eat because they close at 2. Wow!Not worth the money and they obviously don't realize/care who keeps them open.

Ordered the "Camarones Del Rey"(Large Gulf shrimp sauteed in garlic and wine with hearts of palm, sliced mushrooms and spinach in a delicate white wine cheese sauce. Served with zucchini dore).Expected to receive "large" shrimps but received the smallest shrimps imaginable.Asked the manager, David, why the shrimps are so small, he explained that the large shrimps were cut in pieces and that these would be in fact large shrimps. I've told him that the Manue in this case would be misleading and that large shrimps should be in fact what the word says, large or jumbo. He, insisted that I "have not to show him what I had in mind when ordering, and that he would be done, good night!" So, I have not only a different expectation about how large shrimps should look like, but also how a manager should treat customers! Very disappointed in both!
