Rising Smoke

I've eaten at this location many times and the food has been good. I'm not sure if they have had a lot of staff turnover but today was extremely disappointing. We ordered BBQ ribs, pork and fries. The ribs and fries were cold. The pork was very dry and lukewarm. We asked for fresh fries and received them. I ordered the homemade banana pudding and it was the worst i have ever seen. It was very runny like soup. No one ever came back to ask how the food was and when we got up to pay, the girl at the register was very nasty. We told her that the food was not good today that it was cold. She said that it was warm when the waitress brought it out. My friend asked her if she was the cook and did she touch it? Her facial expressions said it all. She got loud and said that she would take the fries off and I told her no! They brought hot fries and I didn't understand what she was being so nasty when we were just letting her know that the food wasn't very good and we eat there often. She then snapped and said well you're taking the food to go and She just walked off and left us standing there. I asked the girl behind the Buffet counter who the manager was and she said "well, she is". I said a few choice words and that this was not her forte!!! She needs to find another job. I have never been so angry at a restaurant. All because we wanted them to know that the food wasn't great....and yes we got Togo boxes for the dog. That little 12 year old manager needs to work at Chuck E Cheese.

Here for a high school football game, and stopped in for a pregame meal. Service was outstanding not just in efficiency and speed, but very friendly and helpful. Food was awesome. The ribeye steak was cooked perfectly, and was very juicy with great flavor. The onion rings are huge and very good obviously freshly prepared And the baked potato was cooked all the way through which is a problem in some other places but not here. If you are in the Haleyville area, I highly suggest a stop at Russell's.

It was a delicious meal, loved the stuff they call white sauce, it was the bomb! The desert was good too, chocolate brownie & ice cream, yum

The restaurant is a bit oddly placed being on the inside of a Y between two roads but is definitely easy to see. The waitresses are clean and friendly country charm. The menu though small has all many would want and food was pretty good. The steaks we ordered where cooked medium rare to order and tasted great. The sirloin and ribeye suited their respective cut they came from well. The sides are hit and miss with the sweet potato being cooked to perfection and the green beans tasting worse than watered down dentcan store special. Your mileage may very here. Overall though I would come again if I was in the area and given a time in the near future I might just be back soon.

I've lived in Haleyville all of my life and surprisingly I had never tried Russell's Rising Smoke. I decided to give it a try and was not disappointed. The waitresses are kind and the place definitely has the southern charm one could imagine. I had the Russell's Southern Fried Catfish Filet. It was inexpensive and very delicious. I had a loaded potato salad with fried okra as the sides and they were delicious as well! I didn't notice any covid-19 precautions but they also do drive pickup if one would prefer. I will definitely be back!

Great local place. Very good food and super service. Alabama Twisters are a must have. Wings were just okay. Catfish was excellent. Just order the small, still a lot of food. Can wait to come back this way

Absolutely suck a blind man can cook better stake been here 1hr and was told to eat my side while they fix or try to fix my stakefor the 2nd time and got it ass backwards . Sorry for language and got told you don't eat it you dont have to pay is there rule . I would rather have someone from McDonald's cook my stake

Amazing people and super good food if your in in the need for good southern BbQ this is where it's at especially me I'm a white sauce carnivore

Restaurant specializes is Bar B Q but also many other American traditional dishes such as steak, catfish, salad bar etc. The food at this place is outstanding. Best Bar B Q even when compared to larger Southern cities. I highly recommend this one ! Service and hospitality is great also.
