Good barbecue! My family has been a customer since before I was born, and I have great memories growing up with Ricks. It's a little pricey for the area and you have to have cash, but I'm glad they're still in business this long.

The reason I gave 4 stars is due to no posting that they do not accept debit/credit cards. So if you want to try this place out and you are new to the area make sure you have check or cash. This place is only open Friday-Sunday and I would suggest try it on any day but a Sunday because they do seem to sell out and don't make more. I was greeted with a hello but I think I aggravated the girl at the register because she had to change my order because I was unaware of the "we don't accept cards". Her words "I see you are holding a card we only accept checks or cash". Maybe it was her tone or maybe I just took it wrong altogether but I think she could have been a little nicer? I am new to the area found this place on yelp and either I didn't read all the comments or was like yay BBQ and all stars! I won't let this stop me from going back but I would go on the first day they are open so I can try something different. On this day in question they had ribs and BBQ. One would think with all the questions I asked the cashier she would realize I was new to this place and try to explain things a little better? So I begin to ask about what comes on the plate, what sides they have, and what was the difference between a large plate and just a plate. So out of the 2 meats they had I chose the BBQ with baked beans and mac and cheese. You have a choice between bun and corn bread I chose corn bread. Then they have several sauces you can chose from I chose from the sweet BBQ sauce. I had my plate before I had even finished paying which was nice. Will I go back yes cause I love BBQ and it's near me. Will I make sure I have cash on hand of course (because I forgot where I was and being back in the south it's a little slower than where I have been). My suggestion for them is to put a sign on the door so that people don't look stupid walking in pulling out a card to pay for food. Be a little more patient with newbies like me. There are signs to look for that people are new to your establishment.

Rick's is always on point and consistently delicious. Being from Stewart Co, now living in Williamson Co, I make Rick's a must-stop when I'm in town. The rib sauce is the best around, along with the ribs. The brisket is a newer addition I believe, and is scrumptious. It's shredded, but super flavorful and juicy. I was worried, as I'm a Texas-brisket style junkie having traveled for work in Texas for over a decade. I was pleasantly surprised at how great it was. The service is always kind, eager to help, and genuine (currently at near extinction levels in the US). Bring cash! It's always been cash or local checks. It's well worth the stop at the ATM folks. Don't pass this place if in the Dover area during their hours of operation.

My co-workers and I stopped at Rick's on the way back to Nashville from Paris Landing. Both the food and service were GREAT! The food was practically on the table before we sat down and I'm not kidding. They were so polite and helpful. I doubt if I'll be in the area again but if I were I'd definitely go back to Rick's.

True to life, build a hickory fire, shovel coals into pit, 12 to 16 hours on a pit BBQ is hard to come by. BUT when you find it you know what you've found and when you taste it you know.......Yeah, this is one of THOSE places! We had white beans, slaw and hoecakes. But they offer all the traditional sides like mac&cheese, greens, baked beans ext ... The slaw was homemade and delicious. The white beans were canned but seasoned up just right and the hoecake were a bit greasy but to me :) perfect!! Rick is the Pitmaster, Sherry will probably take your order and ring ya out. If. Not her it'll be Alma or Olean. And Gilbert is running around close by. There all family and when you walk into the small, 4 table, 16 seat dining room it sorta seems like your parta the family. You just get the sense the smiles are genuine and the " How ya dewin?" Is real as well. So, you want superb old fashion pit BBQ, delicious homemade sides in a friendly, family environment then you deserve to find this place. It is well worth the trip

I can barely stomach any other BBQ other than Rick's. It is the best and unmatched in taste and quality. The mild and rib sauces finish off a perfect sandwich. Don't forget a pickle!
