Red Barn Cafe

We very much enjoy the Red Barn Cafe. We must, it's about 30 minutes from our house, and we go often.To be fair, we only ever go on Saturday mornings. And they serve a tasty breakfast buffet. They have a few selection of meats to include bacon, 2 sausage types, and chicken strips.They have the standard breakfast fixings as well to include eggs, hashbrowns, potato bites, a couple different gravy's... what you would expect from a breakfast buffet.The food is always tasty. As for the ambience, the name of the place says it all... It's a big red barn. It is decorated with a cute country theme, it is always clean, bright and vibrant.I only ever have two issues. One, is they charge you extra if you use your debit card. Second, there is a waitress with long brown hair, who always seems to be in a bad mood and very lackadaisical about waiting on the guests. If she is your waitress, you may have to get up and go hunt down a refill of coffee.Other than that, we love the place.

I really wanted to love this place! This was my second visit. I decided to give them another chance before doing my review. The last visit was not good. This visit was even worse. Let me start off with the good. The interior and ambiance was very nice. It has a extreme country kitchen vibe. This was right down to the country feeling you get from the hostess and staff. Which I love! The problem was. The country vibe don't match the food. This place is in the middle of nowhere. Its an area neighborhood restaurant. In my experience. These types are usually very good! The last time I came. I got the shrimp dinner and I was very unimpressed. The sides were even bad. I am almost certain the shrimp packaged and just warmed up in a fryer. The sides tasted like can food or canned food was used to make them. Needless to say my experience with the food was not good. I gave them the benefit of doubt and waited to try something else. This time, I tried the Steak Dinner, catfish, and seasoned fries. I ordered the steak medium rare. I got almost well done. I could not believe my eyes when it arrived. Not only was it overcooked. It was about a 1/4" thick, tasteless, and full of fat. Hands down the worst steak I have ever had. The meal came with one piece of catfish and a roll. The catfish was sooo small, they had to add a extra piece. The roll was soft on one end and hard as a brick on the other. This usually happens when rolls sit in a warmer too long and one side is against the metal. The fries had a very weird sweet taste and they were not sweet potato fries. I almost think they were warmed in a microwave. The salad was even bad. I was told to make myself one salad from the bar. The ingredients on the bar were all bag veggies, jar, and canned food. The dressings were watered down. My wife got the catfish dinner. Her fish was a little bigger, but did not taste very good. The hush puppy's were the frozen ones just heated up. She said her baked potato was the star of the meal. I gave them three stars, but that was for the staff and decor. Its a really nice place and the people are very friendly. The inside is very clean. Its a shame the food is so bad. I will not be returning this time. I have decided that nothing at this "country kitchen" is homemade. I am fairly certain, everything is made from package items, jars, and canned food. Its a shame, because this place could be a big hit with no competition around. We were there during prime time on a Saturday night. Places like this are usually full of locals. It was not! My party and two couples were all that ate during the time we were there. Unfortunately I do not recommend going to this place. I didn't even get into the food from the rest of my party. There were very few things worth talking about.

The place is cute and relaxing. It is clean and comfortable. The staff is friendly. The food is good and the ranch is great! I have been to the breakfast buffet a few times.

The food is Awesome, Customer Service, the cleanliness, seating everything was excellent. I truly have found my new favorite restaurant! Breakfast buffet and dinner buffet was awesome as well!!! Check out the Red Barn Restaurant you be surprised I promise...

Stopped by here for lunch. Nice folks. And the place is nicely designed in country decor. Very homey feel. Food is county style. Chicken dumplings, chicken livers, country fried steak etc. They have daily lunch specials on the wall for under $10. If it were closer to us I'd come more often but we were just passing through.

For a while now, my mom and grandmother have wanted to eat here. Especially my mom. So, this past Thursday afternoon, we decided we would go. My grandmother wasn't feeling well, so we decided to just go and get a take out order. We live near Holly Springs, so it's about 15 miles away. We got there, and my mom was so excited especially looking at all of the pretty antique decorations. We had heard a lot about the desserts, so we were especially excited about those, but it ended up being a complete let down. The girl that took our order was so rude, she would barely even look at us or even answer our questions. I understand some people don't like eye contact, but this went way beyond that. I don't think I've ever had someone at a restaurant act that rude. She just stood there rolling her eyes and looking at us like why are you even here. It was like that as soon as we walked up to the counter. It completely killed our positive excited mood about being there. I don't know if she was having a bad day, and her attitude was because of that or what, but she had a rude attitude the entire time. After taking our order and payment, she just walks off. We were like okay? we will check back here in a bit. We went to the car to wait, and when we go back inside, she comes out and says, "oh, I forgot the desserts." So, she goes and gets them and hands us the sack without even saying anything. We get to the car, and we decided to go ahead and see who's order was who's, so when we got to my grandmother's house to drop hers off, it would already be sorted. While looking at the dinners, we see that one order had the wrong side, and in one, the cornbread had completely been left out. We were like oh well that's really no big deal and definitely not worth having to deal with the rude person again. Then, we check the desserts, and we had gotten 2 slices of coconut pie, and 2 of chocolate, and this was the smallest most pitiful slices of pie I've ever seen. It wasn't even a slice. It looked like someone took a table spoon and dropped some in the container. They were all like that. And it wasn't a matter of it being hot outside and melting, because this all happened within a matter of 2 minutes from the time she handed them to us. I'm adding a photo of how they were given to us. My mom took the slices of pie back inside, and the same rude girl didn't offer to cut a better slice, she didn't say sorry about that or anything. She just gave the money back and that's it. It was $17 total we had spent for the 4 slices of pie, which we would have gladly paid if they were, in fact, slices of pie, but these were ridiculous. Between that and the rude service, we were so disappointed. The food was okay, but definitely not worth it after all of that. I just especially felt bad for my mom and grandmother because they had been so excited about trying it out. We thought it would be great because we had seen so many awesome reviews online, but our experience was terrible. We thought this was going to be a great place that we could frequently come to especially since there were so many great reviews, but it ended up being the exact opposite. We definitely expected better from this place, but even if we had mediocre expectations, they wouldn't have been met.

Pizza surprisingly good. Staff not nice or knowledgeable about the food they serve. Picnic tables outside could use a good cleaning.

Great country cooking restaurant with friendly servers and laid back country atmosphere!

Breakfast was really good . I had the ham and cheese omelet . It came with hash browns and biscuits and gravy . Great price and a ton of food . Staff is friendly .
