My girlfriend and I stopped into this Egyptian restaurant to check it out and found their menu very interesting. We settled on the meat pie with fries and it was delicious. The beef in it was spicy but not over powering. The fries were very good. Overall we truly enjoyed our meal.

First, I'm super excited to see some variety in the area! Next, you can tell it's a new joint and they're still getting their dance choreographed. The menu looks pretty traditional with a few unexpected selections (like Philly cheesesteak). My group ordered the Philly cheesesteak & lamb shank BBQ plate. The orders came with a good amount of meat and was enough to have leftovers. The wait after ordering was not bad, but could be more efficient. The staff were kind and apologetic. You can eat in or order to go. I will say the price point was more than I expected, but I think when some kinks get worked out, it won't be a bone of contention. It's an intimate space and I'm looking forward to this place becoming a staple. I'll have to go visit again for an updated review.

First, I want to say I really don't understand some of the other reviews. Who goes to an Egyptian restaurant and orders a Philly cheesesteak or chicken tenders? Those reviews should just be ignored. Philomena is a casual diner where you order at the counter, and they will bring your food to you. The owner and employees were all super nice and chatted with us. The Hawawshi is Egypt answer to the hamburger - seasoned ground beef stuffed into bread, and here it was grilled. Very nice flavors. The Koshari is listed as a side, but it's big enough to be its own meal - a bed of rice topped with pasta, tomato sauce, chickpeas, and fried onions. A very unique combination. The Chicken Shawarma was also huge, and messy. Great grilled chicken, veggies and sauces. The hummus here is the best one I've found in the area, with a nice little kick to it that you won't find elsewhere. They also have a good selection of Egyptian drinks and desserts. If you want a Philly, go somewhere else - but if you actually want try Egyptian food, you owe it to yourself to visit.

Very delicious food with some extremely friendly folks that are ready to serve. The chicken and rice platter was delicious, but I couldn't get over how amazing the side salad was. Their "Egyptian cheesecake" (I can't remember the actual name of it) is very rich and will satisfy your sweet tooth. Just ensure to have someone help you eat it because it's massive! Will definitely return.

I ordered a Chicken Shawarma sandwich with fries for takeout. After a 15% tip the order was just under $24. I was the only person in the restaurant. I thought the food was great. Sandwich was a decent size and the portion of fries was good. Honestly surprised the place isn't busier. I definitely recommend stopping by and giving them a try.

We ordered shwerma, gyros and grapeleaves. The shwerma was not off a hot spit like pictured. It was mushy and soupy tahini sauce soaked everything but I think what I didn't like was that they were packed with chopped green peppers. Also, they show pickled turnips on the picture but only give you one piece and a stack of pickled carrots which I had never seen before. The gyros platter, I was told was good. The grapeleaves were terrible. They were cold the stuffing was mushy white stuff. The part I didn't like is the pricing. The menu at the table had different prices than the one they hand you at the register and then there's one online. They are way overpriced for what they give you.

This place is amazing! Prices are comparable for the type of food. The fresh hummus was out of this world!!! Nice flavor with a bit of a kick. We tried Philomena for the first time and we will definitely be returning. The workers are friendly and the food was perfect. It has a small and personal dining space. Once we ordered and got our drinks, we had a seat and they brought the food out hot, fresh, and delicious.
