Penny's Place

Good food, friendly service. The ladies room is kinda creepy but otherwise we loved it

I had the pleasure of stopping into Penny's Plae for lunch earlier this year. I was in the Newport area for business and I went with a business colleague from the area. The Restaurant is easy to find, just off a main road. The Restaurant is fairly new and has a buffet at lunch with many offerings. There is a salad bar with many selections, and a hot table serving meats and other hot foods. I tried the barbecue chicken and the tender juicy deep-fried pork chops which were out of this world. This is great place to have lunch and I would go back.

Pretty good, it's a great place. Good made from scratch fry chicken. We were not able to get the chicken fried steak which is their signature dish.

Country fried steak was more breading than meat and very salty, green beans very soft (on verge of mushy) and other meat option was fried livers or fried gizzards. Rolls and cornbread were both on the hard side and seemed to be leftovers. The beans/ham were ok. For the price they should have included dessert. Would not go back. Should not have stayed after looking at the buffet.

Service is fair. Food is good, but hasn't been the best lately. Ambiance is ok, but could be a little cleaner.

Food from buffet was hot and fresh. Staff was friendly. Will come back when back in this area.
