Pappy John's Original Barbecue

Stopped in for lunch while traveling through today and was absolutely blown away. It's got that "bbq pit" feel to it which I love, like you know it's going to be good as soon as you pull into the parking lot. The staff were super friendly. I had a pork sandwich along with the coleslaw and potato salad. I consider myself a connoisseur of slaw and I honestly think this may be the best I've ever had. I loved the hot bbq sauce. What a great place!

I checked out this place while visiting my family. I was craving BBQ and Pappy John's hit the spot! Their portions were huge! The food was so tasty, we got some pulled pork, pork ribs, baked beans, and potato salad - everything was fantastic! We came a little close to closing, but the woman working was kind. She helped us quickly and didn't make us feel like we were being a bother. It was cleaner than I was expecting on the inside, decorated with pigs (appropriate). I would happily go back.

Reminds me of roadside BBQ joints common to this area since the 1950's. BBQ was excellent. Meat was chopped with a good mix of crusty outside and tender inside. Good job of removing fat. Well made sweet slaw. BBQ beans were right out of a can. Could use a little meat and seasoning. BBQ sauce was first class, sweet, very traditional Memphis style. BBQ ribs were very nicely cooked, falling off the bone. Potato salad was very good, somewhat German style with a hint of bacon flavor. A great stop for BBQ.

Look. Not going to spend a whole lot of time here, but will say that if you're anywhere close or happen to be passing through Selmer, TN do yourself a favor and stop at Pappy John's. I've passed by it several times on my travels and am glad I made the decision to stop this time. It's good old fashioned home style BBQ. From the baked beans to the ribs it's all very tasty. Don't forget the sauce. They have a medium and hot. The medium is sweet with a small kick, while the hot is the medium sauce with more pepper. Not sure if they're allowing indoor seating during COVID, so drive around back to the drive through. Thank me later...

My Dad's 85th birthday last week was catered by Pappy John's. The BBQ was tender and yummy. The baked beans were really good and topped with bacon. The slaw was a little dry but still good. I will be visiting them again...

Are you hungry? Do you like BBQ? Do you have a family to feed and need it to be on the cheap? Pappy John's is here to save the day! Excellent pork, it was so soft? Not sure if that's the correct term, it was so so so good. The medium sauce is amazing, mix a little of the hot in and you are all set to go. Loved the beans! The coleslaw wasn't up my alley, but still legit!

I always get great service that's fast and friendly. The Bar B Q is always good and not dry. However I did try the rib plate the other day ight and they were very dry to me. The potato salad is always good as well as the baked beans. I'm not a huge fan in their slaw lately. I think they have changed something it use to be a lot better. I do recommend this place.

After checking them out on your app I decided to go up there, but wasted my money because they were CLOSED!

Saw the lady who served the food at the window dig at her ear and then handed me my food. No thanks.
