Ole Monterey Cafe

A very clean restaurant in the quaint little town of Michie (Mickey). Interior decor consists of antiques and lots of bird houses. Waitstaff are very friendly and attentive. They have a pretty good deal on a fish plate (Sat night when I was there) of fish, fries, slaw and hushpuppies for $6.95. The fish plates I saw had a couple large boneless fish fillets. I had a cheeseburger and onion rings. The onion rings were pretty good but I won't order them again. The batter needs improving so it doesn't break apart on the first bite. My husband's fries were old and cold. They were just crinkle cut frozen ones, but they tasted as if they were fried and kept under a heat lamp. The hamburger patty was fresh and cooked on a chargrill. It is one of the best tasting burgers around. Borroum's in Corinth isn't chargrilled but it has a wonderful taste and hard to beat. We both agree that we will eat here again but will just order burgers without any sides. The burger will fill me up and two will do him. The only steak on the menu is a ribeye and hamburger steak. Either should be pretty good if they are cooked as the burgers were.

This is my FAVORITE place to eat in Michie. Fantastic food and extremely clean and nicely decorated. My grand kids love going here!!!! Open Wednesday-Saturday 4 pm til close, usually 9 pm. Great staff!

Catfish competition in this area is pretty intense, but this little cafe is way ahead of the pack. Dining here for the first time makes me wonder how this place has escaped my radar. The fried catfish was very well done, the slaw was great, hushpuppies very, very good, and the french fries hot and tasty but about average. A nice salad bar was appealing but everyone at our table had fish with slaw. Catfish was one of the specials for the evening and a real bargain at $6.99.The real treat of the evening was a wonderful towering pie which caught my attention as I walked through the door. Turns out it was coconut cream and we tried a piece and it was homemade and delicious. Plan ahead and save room for desert.

Thought it was just bad timing the first time. Food was bad. Second time,food still not good. Tonight,gas station quality with steakhouse prices

RUDE STAFF! the last few times I have been there I have not had good service, and the food has been disgusting. The waitresses were arguing loudly among themselves, which was awkward. We could not get our tea filled and our food took forever and was cold when we finally got it. Don't waste your time going to this place.

Service was fine but I order fish with no bones but the first bite I took had bones in it. Good prices too. The salad was good. The baked potatoes were a weird color and the steaks had a lot of fat too. The desserts were good. The bathrooms were dirty. Over all this was a okay place
