Sampling the "Nouveau Southern" style of Chef David Schnell is worth the travel to West Point. You can visit the website for some nice photos and text to describe the opulent surroundings at Old Waverly. If you've never sought out a little Southern Culture, then I would recommend a visit to the Magnolia Room. You can view the Golf Course from the patio when enjoying cocktails before dinner. We didn't play the links this time, as we spent our time dining. I'll cut straight to highlights of the seasonal menus. During the winter months, the Butternut Squash bisque is a must. During the Spring and Summer, it's Seafood Gumbo. Entrees range from fresh Grouper and Catfish, to aged filets, to many other favorites you'd expect to see in the south. This was a five-star comfort-food dining experience, from the cauliflower risotto to the "Old Waverly Snowball" coffee ice cream ball sundae . This was my third occasion to dine here with friends, and I'll look forward to coming back to this review to add more.

Old Waverly is like a little slice of paradise in Mississippi for us. You turn into their driveway and it's like you're suddenly in a different world. A better world. Where everything is pristine and beautiful. The course features a picturesque lake, rolling hills, amazing scenery, etc... The clubhouse is full of old southern charm. The bar is fabulous. The chef is new and has been kinda hit or miss in the past couple of months but I think he's decent. Make sure you try some of their mint sweet tea and their home-smoked barbecue!

Excellent food and even better service. I have been here many times and it's always consistent. It always feels like you are the only table.
