Nam King is our go-to for takeout! I always order their fried chicken wings and combination fried rice--both are so flavorful and absolute favorites in our house. A close second are the sesame chicken and wonton soup, which are equally delicious. I usually order through DoorDash, and the food always arrives hot and well-packaged. If you're looking for a treat, definitely order from Nam King tonight--you won't regret it!

Really tasty! Easy ordering on phone/online and good prices (~$11.50 all day dinner combo, about $10-11 for regular dinner). I got tofu and they did right by it, really tasty, full of flavor and large portion sizes. Beef very tasty as well. We took to go, but it seemed like a nice place to head a quick bite.

Tasty but not the BOMBI order chicken egg foo young with fried rice, crab Rangoon, fried chicken wings, and egg drop soup. The food was just ....aight. The chicken wings were OFF THE CHAIN! But everything else just tasted like, "Here. You said you wanted fried rice right?!" .The egg foo young wasn't excessively flavorful or fresh tasting which is strange because it's made with bean sprouts, which I would assume are always fresh and crisp. The brown sauce with a very thick viscosity but actually had all the flavor in it. I also opted for fried rice instead of white rice and was pleased. The egg drop soup and the crab rangoon tasted mass produced and didn't wow.The selling points for me: the food was ready fast and super inexpensive. The restaurant was very clean and well lit and had beautiful plants, which gains anyone cool points in my book. Overall it was a solid quick dinner and the service was standard.

Use to go to Nam King regularly but we moved & haven't been in years. It was always very good. We happened to be in the area & we're happy to return. Was as good as it always was. My egg foo young was delicious as was the hot & sour soup. Spouse had chicken curry which was also very good. Egg rolls were big & crispy-not greasy at all. Fried rice was great. Portions are very generous & prices more than reasonable. Place was very clean, staff efficient & welcoming. It's more of a pickup /to go place now where you order at counter. But there's a couple of tables inside to eat at. Will definitely return when back in that part of town.

Based on the two other reviews in the past couple of months, though they are the only reviews, you'll think this is out of left field ... but this was one of the worst Chinese food experiences I have ever had. My partner and I both got the General's Chicken, so maybe it's an issue with this dish (though I can't imagine that, given how traditional a dish General Tso's is). However, not one piece was white meat and many of the pieces had almost no chicken inside of them (think just eating breading over and over). On top of that, the sauce barely had any flavor, and the flavor it did have was sweet rather than spicy. We rarely waste food, but we threw most of it out to the birds. Not good. At all. Sorry. The fried rice was decent, but that would be the best thing I could say on this front. I'm hoping for others that this was a one-time really bad experience, but we probably won't be back to test that potential theory out...

Ordered 8 items for a small get-together: Spring rolls (X 2)$5; Chicken Fried rice $11; Shrimp with Broccoli $14; Hunan Triple Delight $16; Phoenix and Dragon with Cashews $18; Wonton soup $6; Broccoli Lo Mein $12. Surprisingly with such a large selection every one of us - 5 adults and 1 child pronounced their selection excellent! This was my first time but the other couple has this delivered quite often. plastic silverware, soy sauce and other incidentals were packaged with the food. The portions were huge and prices very reasonable. The only criticism I have is that the dishes weren't properly labeled - for instance menu item K1 (Hunan) and K2 (Phoenix) merely had a scribble resembling the number 2. M16 was properly labeled and of course we could tell what the soup and egg rolls were. But several dishes came with versions of fried rice - how to tell the dishes and the fried rice apart?? Perhaps not enough to take off a star, but still...

Clean, friendly and fast service. Rational dine in options are available for customers who don't want to eat in their car or take out to home. The food was tasty and even brought to the table where I was waiting, with the employees having no unfounded fear of "pestilence". Overall a refreshing experience! I hope to find them making great meals for years to come so I can continue to support this long time Memphis restaurant!

I grew up on Nam King. It was the first Chinese food I ever ate, and I have loved it ever since it was over by K-Mart and Western Sizzlin at White Station and Summer, loved it when it was in Summer Center, loved it at Yale and Austin Peay. Despaired when I moved away for almost a decade and returned unable to find any Nam King locations. No other Chinese restaurant in Memphis has BBQ Pork Fried Rice/Lo Mein like Nam King. Imagine my joy when I recently discovered their current location... close to my house and not far from the old Austin Peay location. One order of Lo Mein or a small Fried Rice lasts me two days. No other Chinese restaurant in Memphis satisfies quite like Nam King. And their sugar biscuits are the bomb. Don't sleep on this Memphis institution.

I remember eating at another Nam King's location growing up! The smell when I walked in brought back a lot of memories. What I used to like best was the buffet, now it is more of call in and pick up place despite there being two tables inside. I hope this is temporary and they are able to bring it back. This is where I fell in love with sweet and sour chicken so thats what I ordered. Originally the chicken came already in the sweet and sour sauce but now it is separate but still delicious. Would I return? If i was in the area with a taste for Chinese, absolutely.

Great, old-school, perfect and delicious! Highly recommend. If you ever ate at the old (or New) Nam King on Summer Ave, this food has the same flavor. It's so good! The prices are very reasonable and the take-out service is great! I'm very grateful to have found this spot. It's my new go-to. You won't be disappointed.
