This was our first year at the Mid-South fair and we had a great time. We actually went in two separate days.First, the pig racing events were awesome. The announcer was fun, lively and great at getting the audience involved. I'd never seen pig racing, think horse racing on a tiny track...but with pigs. The Fearless Flores family was awesome too. The best way to describe them is...fearless...and talented, entertaining and super friendly. The fair offered a lot of food and drink vendors so there was plenty of selection. All fair type foods but that is what we like. Additionally, there were a variety of rides to entertain adventure seekers if all ages and risk capacities. :-)On our first evening there, there was not a lot of people which was nice. On night two the lines were long but the vendors, carnies, etc. had their game tight and lines were glowing.I'm excited for next year. See you there!

The mid south fair 2021. Plenty of food vendors. Arts and crafts and vendors. The rides were fun and there was a kids area with a petting zoo. The big kids had plenty of air rides and games of chance. Plenty of prizes and fun. Located at the Agricenter. Plenty of paid parking. And most days were wristband days and there were coupons on their website for free entrance, deals and special days. Also each night there was entertainment on the main stages. Family Fun!

First time at the Mid-South Fair, I'm new to the area, and I was told it was a classic. The rides were ok, the wait lines were long but still reasonable. One of my favorite parts of any fair is the street food, we tried chili cheese fries, chicken on a stick, turkey leg and a Funnel cake; some of it was good, some ok. Overall a fun evening, but overpriced for the experience.

Well, it sure isn't what it used to be...I have fond memories of "The Fair" growing up. I say that because there was only one, and it was at the fairgrounds next to Liberty Land. As a kid it was great, as a teenager, it got a little rough... At the very end there were "times" you better not go. With all of that said, I appreciated the "New Fair" this year. It's not my first visit since it moved, but my first review. We went on the "Buddy Wristband" night and my two youngest had the time of their lives. They rode every single ride there that they wanted and didn't have to wait on anything more than 5-10 minutes. It wasn't crowed or crazy. It was fun. Everyone I saw there were having fun. It was quite the eclectic mixture of people. They had all the right fair foods including some really good grilled food vendors. Funnel Cakes! Cotton Candy! Chicken on a Stick! Turkey leg as big as my arm, ya know, the good stuff. Like I said, it's not what it was, but could you imagine it if it had continued the way it was going in the old location???

Held from September - October, this fair is everything that a fair should be. It's busy, filled with people, the smell of hay, barn animals, funnel cakes, hot dogs, and the sound of happy screams from spinning, brightly-lit rides and carnival games. Full of nostalgia for older folks who remember riding the same rides and maybe still have the guts to do so. There's fun for all ages and it makes for a fun date, or date with the family or friends.

The Mid South Fair is so full of nostalgia for me....the fair of my youth. I spent hours riding awesome rides, like the Himilayan, Gravitron, double ferris wheel, and the big circle loop thing of which I can't remember the name. But it was huge, and the dudes that ran it would wait until everyone was upside down at the top of the ride before switching it off, making us sit there for 5 minutes or more. I'm serious, I timed it once while my foreheard was smushed against the terribly uncomfortable hot metal of the cagey ride. My friends and I would eat Pronto Pups and people-watch, or head over to the Libertyland side of the fair to ride the Revolution and the Zippin' Pippin. Loved it. Since then, the Mid-South Fair has moved from the midtown fairgrounds to the DeSoto Civic Center in Southaven, Mississippi. It's still close enough to Memphis that we may certainly enjoy it. I sure will miss the Pippin though. This year's fair is September 24- October 3. Admission is $10 for adults 13 and older, $5 for ages 5-12 and free for kids 4 and under. Wristbands (for unlimited rides) are $20.

After mismanaging the fairgrounds for years and destroying Libertyland, the rocket scientists behind the Mid-South Fair moved it to a parking lot in DeSoto County, where the fair is a ghost of its former self. A sad end to more than 150 years of tradition.

Awful....move the fair to Tunica and try to make it bigger and nicer or just stop having it. It was nothing like it was..sad.

My parents drove an hour to go with me & my son, but when we got there we were told that they weren't selling admission into the fair anymore. The people already inside the fair got to stay there until closing time though, and it was only 8pm when we got there. What a waste of my parents' time & money! They were supposed to be open until 10pm! Can we say FALSE ADVERTISEMENT!!!!!

The fair is not the same when it was in Memphis years ago. They had more arts and crafts vendors and more different events. The food was a lot better because they had local and outside vendors. They need to bring back the event back to the city.
