SINGLE TO LEAD OFF THE GAME!My wife and I made the trek from Memphis Tennessee today to grab lunch at this quaint place. She's been before but I haven't. This restaurant is the companion shop to the famous McCarty pottery store a few blocks over. It's an older, small restaurant with nicer furnishings. Most of the decorations are actual items sold by the shop, and all of the serving ware is the pottery - plates, bowls, goblets, spice holders, trays, cups, etc. I had the chicken salad which was freshly prepared with a sprinkle of paprika on it. It was served with McCarty's tomatoes, green beans, and a piece of cornbread. The meal comes with a cup of vegetable soup which was warm and tasted great. SAVE ROOM FOR DESSERT! Wow, you won't leave hungry. Today they had chocolate cobbler and caramel cobbler, and I ordered half-and-half. They brought it out (hot) in a beautiful dessert goblet with a scoop of very good vanilla ice cream. Man, it was to die for!!The servers were extremely gracious and friendly. I can't wait to go back!

We happened upon this joint during our Mississippi food tour. You'd be surprised at how many sites are in the state! McCarty's Gallery Restaurant is a small eatery in an even smaller town, made famous by its hand crafted pottery and traditional recipes. It can be a bit difficult to find but don't be afraid to ask for directions! Reservations are encouraged but we were luckily able to get a table. The architecture of McCarty's reminds me of an Asian layout, very Feng Shui. I believe it also acts as a venue for events because there was a bridal party happening in the main room adjacent to the dining room we were in. It was a nice room right next to the kitchen with a view of the courtyard via an oversized window. We were immediately greeted by a wonderful man who had the biggest smile and a pleasant demeanor. He talked over he menu with such excitement that we ordered a bit of everything. Although it was all delicious, the real star of the show were the tamales. SUCH FLAVOR AND SO PERFECTLY COOKED! I could have eaten a dozen of those and still wanted more. Afterwards we learned that the recipe had been passed down through the family and was over 100 years old! How's that for timeless?A few tips: Stop by their studio and have a look at more than the plates, cups and other serving stuff. They have tons of pottery that's fairly affordable!Make sure to make a reservation. Gratuity is included on all the checks so don't worry about tipping. EAT ALL THE TAMALES!

Ate here with my mother in law a few weeks back, I got the chicken crepes with marigold tomatoes and spinach sunflower. The meal was good, but nothing spectacular. We had FABULOUS service. We got a mix of the chocolate and caramel cobbler. I definitely recommend the mix, it's the best of both worlds! Will come back.

This lunchtime restaurant hidden away behind thickets of bamboo serves up delicious home cooked casseroles such as the Spinach Madeline and Merigold Tomatoes (cheese and tomato casserole). They serve two types of bread pudding for dessert - caramel and chocolate. I suggest half and half with a cup of coffee. Everything is prepared fresh each morning by the cook, including a vegetable soup served as an appetizer. The food is always to die for, as long as you don't mind a slightly snotty attitude in the air. But then again, if you're stopping to eat at this place you have probably just dropped hundreds of dollars in the McCarty pottery place.

What a great meal to top off our week vacation. A little hard to find (no signs) but worth the search. Wonderful food served on beautiful pottery. I love the atmosphere as much as the meal.

My friend and I ate here this past Saturday for lunch after a beautiful day of shopping. Our beautiful day came to a halt a couple hours after lunch - turns out the chicken crepe was bad and we were both very sick for the next 36 hours!!! This blow came on the heels of poor service and not having our reservation time honored by over 30 minutes. Can't say I will ever be back.
