Too much drama, food below average for what they charge. Service could be better, in restaurant drama needs to be left at home.

Stopped in here today after hunting to try it out, and typical small town diner. But, that's where the similarities stopped. I was recommended the southern burger, and it's very hard to impress me with a burger, but this may have actually been the best burger I have eaten in my life. I'm not kidding, I was very impressed.

Cute small town diner. I came thinking I would get a veggie plate but there is not a large selection of fresh veggies. I ended up getting the lunch special of the day- meatloaf w 2 sides. I chose mashed potatoes and green beans. Neither seemed truly made from scratch but they were good enough. It came w a drink, bread and small container of a mediocre apple cobbler. All in all it was a fun deviation of my long road trip. Why do fast food when you can have a small town experience? Very friendly staff. The locals dining there will take notice of you when you walk in which is kind of funny.

I had the hamburger and fries. My wife had the lunch From the food bar she had meatloaf with two vegetables we had 2 soft drinks. The servings were larger than usual. The squash casserole was bland. It was reasonably priced.

Stopped here randomly off I 22. They have a fantastic country Sunday buffet-fried pork chops , dressing, cranberry sauce, corn bread, etc. The make Cole slaw the way God intended-not creamy at all! They have a huge selection of homemade cakes! Also, five stars doesn't do the hospitality and service justice-a true diamond in Carbon Hill!

Took my daughter for lunch yesterday after reading the reviews on this place and we were highly disappointed. We had a side order of chicken livers as an appetizer and they were okay but the breading fell off on the plate. That's okay though because we were there for this "best burger in the world" that everyone seems to rave about. The patties appeared to be steamed rather than freshly cooked and were absolutely tasteless. Fries were undercooked, limp and cold. Service was good and prices were surprisingly low but we got what we paid for in that regard. I certainly won't be making that drive again and for all the folks that think this is the "best burger they have ever had", let me recommend Burger King or any other fast food place if you want one that is even better.

We were driving through Alabama and took a chance on Mava's. Cannot say enough about the people and the food. Mava herself came over and introduced herself and we felt immediately at home. All of the staff were super friendly and helpful. I had a great burger with steak fries. My husband had whole fried catfish. Perfect light cornmeal batter. The hush puppies were stellar. I hate any sweet cornbread or hush puppies. These were simple and delicious. No yucky sweet taste. We were full by then and hesitated about dessert. But Mava makes the pies, so what the heck. There was coconut pie and we both have a weakness for that particular one. So glad we got a piece to share. It was just barely warm with a stellar crust and perfect balance of coconut and custard. Mava says it is the same as her buttermilk pie with just coconut added. I am a pie snob and this is the BEST I have ever had. If I knew I were to die tomorrow I would drive back for another piece. Fortunately we got two pieces more to go. I will have to up my game to be able to make a pie as good as Mava's. Drive out of your way to eat here! Trust me on this. And don't pass up the pie.

Loved the staff. Bathroom was very clean. I got the catfish and it was really too thick. My husband had breakfast and it was good.

Delicious home cooked food. Breakfast available all day. The staff was so personable and welcoming! We left with full tummies and extra goodies for later. Don't miss this place.
