Marvin's Family Restaurant

I am not a local, so I wasn't too sure what to expect, but I kind of wanted something classic small town Southern, and boy, did I get it. As soon as you walk in, you will be in a very, very large dining room. The host let me know I could seat myself, and shortly after, a server came over to take my order, and off to the buffet I went. While my expectations were managed as it is a buffet, the food was solid. For a Tuesday dinner, they had fried chicken, fried catfish, salisbury steak?, fried pork chops, in addition to a variety of sides and desserts. I was also honestly so happy to see a fresh salad bar with a variety of ingredients and dressings. My personal favorites of the night were the fried catfish, mac and cheese, and salad bar lol. Even though it's a buffet, the service was great. The server was really good about topping off my drink and making sure I didn't need anything, the busboy was constantly working to clear plates and wipe down tables, and the host/cashier/manager? was super sweet helping everybody that she was. True Southern hospitality.Particularly if you are not a local and could spare it, I would strongly recommend tipping as well as possible. I'm not totally sure what general local pricing is like, but ~$15 for a buffet dinner felt like a steal compared to what I'm used to, and a 20% tip felt insultingly low for the quality of service I received.

We're not from around there so we weren't quite sure what to expect. We happened to be in the area and got hungry so decided to stop in for a meal. The people here were very nice and friendly. It is a buffet, and for the price of 14.99, they had a pretty good amount of items on there. I sampled as much as I could before I got full. I really loved their sweet tea, baked beans, and Mac n cheese. Their fried chicken was pretty good. The chicken was fried perfectly. It wasn't overcooked or undercooked. It was nice and juicy. I also liked how it wasn't bland. On the day we went, it was after 3pm. I'm guessing it turned into dinner. They had stuffed crabs, mussels, crawfish, fried fish, and a few other fried seafood items. I really liked their cobbler a lot. If you're into desserts, it is a must try. In all, I had a pretty good experience. I'm glad I checked them out.

great food at a great price! I thoroughly enjoy that my daughter can eat nothing but peaches, fried chicken, and ice cream and it's cheaper than running through McDonald's.

If you want a good southern buffet I recommend going to Marvin's. You are going to get some great fried chicken, delicious sides, and sometimes they have frog legs if you are into that kinda thing. They also serve butterroll which is a southern delicacy (think of cinnamon rolls without the cinnamon in a delicious sweet icing gravy custard (hard to explain) it's so sweet that a lot of us cut the sweetness with some soft serve ice cream. The yams are delicious! Sometimes they have meatloaf or pot roast or lots of other entrees, but really if you love salads, they have a fabulous salad bar! The staff are so sweet and it's all locally owned and ran, they really make you feel like a family here and the food is great! Quick and easy and you can eat as much as your heart desires! I hope you stop and see this place, enjoy some fried chicken, and get some butterroll!

Marvin's is a definite star in Fayetteville's crown! Even though there is no sign (March tornado blew it away) , just looked for the packed parking lot and the wonderful scent of fried chicken! Everything was delicious, from the fried chicken to the collard greens. We are talking, Sunday dinner at Grandma's quality. Get your dessert first, it may not reappear in the buffet. The cobbler is good, the banana pudding is wonderful with a homemade custard and meringue on top. Service is excellent.

Great fried chicken. Cafeteria style. Hard to find - the outdoor sign was down. Definitely worth the drive.

The food was delicious and service was great. We just bought a house in fayetteville so we will be coming back.

Mavins is no good no frog legs, cold chicken,cold Mac and cheese,tea to sweet , seating uncomfortable some silverware was dirty

Great experience! Food - Fried chicken, green beans, sweet potatoes, sauerkraut, pintos all were good. Even the tea and corn bread was good, which is often a shortcoming at some places. Service was great-seated immediately and everyone was friendly.Ambiance was good. Just an open, table or booth, buffet with lots of room and choices as to where to sit. Swung out of the way to try Marvin's coming from Decatur going to Nashville. Will definitely come back when we're in the area!

Great southern food!! Service is southern hospitality. Been here twice and really enjoyed it. The locals highly recommend this place. I don't live close by, but we eat here when in the area.
