First time at the Drive in. Pretty cool. Got to bring our own food and go trunk to trunk for snacks. Something diff in memphis
Summer time tradition.

I love the classic intermission. Retro is cool just wish they still had the speakers to sit inside the windows. LOL

I remain very glad that the Memphis area still has an existing drive-in movie theater. When I was a little kid, my small home town had a drive-in that my family would frequent. It was a perfect forum for us rambunctious children. Unfortunately, it permanently closed a few decades ago.I hope that folks will continue to patronize Malco's outdoor venue, as it needs customers' support in order to continue. What some may not understand about this unique experience is that you are allowed to bring your own food and drinks onto the property with you. Huh, seriously? Yup, serious as a heart attack! Alternatively, you can instead (or additionally) patronize the wonderful concession stand, where they serve cheeseburgers, hotdogs, nachos, ice cream bars, soda pop, etc. There are even picnic tables located just outside the concession stand building.Even the restrooms aren't horrible here.Remember the saying, "if you don't use it, you may lose it." As someone who lost his hometown, drive-in, movie theater, I encourage you to make good use of this opportunity!

A decent experience. Not the best drive in - what others have said about the screen quality and difficulty seeing dark scenes is true, butttt it's not terrible.$25 per car and they show newly released movies. We decided to give it a try mainly because a drive in meant we could bring our dog along. I also do love the convenience of bringing our own food and snacks - we grabbed some McDs that was just down the road.We didn't have any issues with cara leaving their lights on when we went.

Summer Drive In has been a Summer Tradition for me since 93 when I moved from Mass. to Memphis. I love the experience of nostalgia of The Drive In & current first run movies. Playing on 4 screens which offer double features. It's a value compared to regular movie admission at $7.50 per person & children under 10 free. The concessions stand offers a wide variety at reasonable prices.Four screens is a wonderful perk. As if your kids don't want to watch what you're watching there's a screen for them that has what they would like to see. I would recommend the Drive In for a family experience weather it's taking your kids to experiemce the Drive in for the very first time or a romantic evening. To check for movies & times go to malco.com

I love going to the movies and was excited to see that Malco had a current and decent selection of films at their drive-in location. Their staff is attentive at the gate and follow COVID-19 protocol to the letter. It is easy to pay and get directed to which lot your film is playing. The screens are incredibly large, but the picture quality is surprisingly good to be so big. Connecting to the audio through the car wasn't crystal clear, but the movie was audible and considering we were relying on my SUV's speakers. The channel signal strength was decent. The particular lot for our movie was pretty hilly. We had to move our vehicle twice because latecomers would park too close behind us and their lights would reflect off of our mirrors. I'm not sure if an attendant is supposed to monitor that, but that was really the only distraction. Other than that, I will be back. It's a perfect outing for those that may be susceptible to COVID-19. You are in contact with no one except the ticket handler (that wears a mask,) you can bring your own snacks and can park wherever you want. Be sure to use the bathroom before you go. The view is incredible and the other screens playing are out of your periphery. If you go on a weekday night, it's not too crowded with vehicles.

During the start of covid this was the only way we could see new release movies and honestly we still only go to this theater now. The benefits are social distancing. no longer dealing with rude people kicking the back of your chair. nor staring to see past tall people sitting in front of you that are blocking your view, and you can control the volume of the audio. The downside is that the bathrooms need a serious upgrade.

Not impressed. At all. Super unorganized, people park wherever, and they have no staff going around telling people to turn off lights so we had car lights shining into the middle of the screen until we finally went and told them to turn it off. I love the idea of four screens, but they need to have like spots for people to park and staff going around making it a better experience. The lights and cars from the highway get in the way of seeing the screen and hearing what's going on because horns, sirens, etc.

Ohhh finally, i got to visit the Malco Summer Drive in thru a UYE! (doing the happy dance)If you've never been to one and want to do something different, this is the place to be. According to Google there are only 338 of these drive in movie theaters left in the US and Memphis is very fortunate to still have one.I arrived 30 mins early just to scope the place out. Several moviegoers were in line to grab the best parking spot already and waiting in line.First you are greeted my a gentleman @ the box office who asks what movie you are watching and directs you to which screen and which FM station you should be tuning to. Then you venture off into the gravel road that leads you to one of the 4 screens. I parked my car by Screen 1 which is probably the closest one to the concession stand and walked over to see what kind of goodies they had. You can actually walk in and they are fully stocked from soft drinks, popcorn, pizza, burgers, nachos, candy and even ice cream! Myself and several of my friends just ended up buying food from our favorite eateries in town and just displayed our open trunks as an open feast. This is pretty neat, i've never got to bring Real food to a movie theater, so in this case the Drive in pretty much allows you to bring anything. I Love this! I could bring a homecooked meal to this and feel very satisfied! I did see alot of folks bring lawn chairs and sat out to watch the movies with blankets since it can get a little chilly. As the sun sets and it gets closer to the show time, more and more ppl showed up and the lines just get longer. So come early to get your spot. The movie and sound emitted from the FM channel is great. Watch out for dark movies as it is a little harder to watch. Also bring you some bug repellent as you are right by Wolf River. I love this place and will plan another UYE for the Malco drive in soon. Enjoy the movies!

Can't get ahold of anyone on any of the 50 numbers to get times and website will not work so do we drive and risk it when we can clearly see people have been going?

What can I say I love movies!Malco Summer Drive-in is a must do for any movie lover. The experience is a blast from the past. We made sure to get there 30 minutes prior to the start of the movie and had no trouble getting in. Plus we found the perfect place to park and watch the movie. I loved that we could talk to one another without someone shhhhh us lolThis Drive-in has 4 screens and is pretty big. However, I will admit that the screen was pretty dark but that didn't bother me all that much. Also the concessions are fairly cheap and they have a good selection. From popcorn, nachos, cheeseburgers, burgers, hotdogs, etc. Overall I had a great experience. I will be back!!!
