Maciel's Tortas & Tacos

Settled into a renovated house, this is a fresh and authentic home style Latin (Mexican mostly) powerhouse.Steak Huarache (Spanish for flip flop btw because that's how big it is), fried avocado and chicken mole tacos, and the shrimp torta were our first order. Add some Victoria beer and you could be in a border town in Mexico.Absolutely fresh ingredients, friendly faces and clean atmosphere. We are coming back for more!If I had to critique anything, I'd say they could use a storage spot to put their cases of beer, brooms and patio heaters. But honestly, that adds to the Mexico cafe vibe for me.

This is one of my favorite places to go when I'm feeling a casual date night. I love their vibe, it's chill and laid back with some cute decorations around and a patio to sit outside. Their tacos and burritos are great, they give you chips and salsa at the table (get the queso dip too!) and their horchata is amazing. The workers there are always kind, and the owner is stupendously friendly. I love coming here, it's always on my date night rotation!

Love this quaint renovated house near the Cooper Young neighborhood. It is very clean and a cozy place to dine. You order your food near the back of the house and servers will bring your food to your table. I ordered a shrimp taco and an order of elotes. The taco was quite yummy. The elotes was okay but needed a little bit more cheese. The chips and salsa were primo. So yummy! There is parking on the street. The menu is electronically posted which is a nice touch to see clearly. My friends ordered a huge burrito. Looked really fresh and large. The service was good. Our server was nice and courteous. I will be back to try other menu items.

Just went to the one on germantown road in Bartlett today after my mom talked very highly about their tacos after working near the original location for a few years. I got a torta but I'd recommend the lettuce tacos my mom had. They had two meats and apples wrapped in lettuce and they were bomb. Also the dankest hibiscus tea and a good horchata that are refillable service was top notch - legit nicest workers I've experienced in a while- but they got hella busy for lunch so id recommend going odd hours if you wanna avoid the crowd.

Great house turned restaurant hidden in plain sight treat! Tried a variety. Spicy chicken taco, tilapia al Diablo, carnitas taco, mole taco, chicken quesadilla, rice, beans, chips & salsa, horchata drinks. Carnitas has good flavor but little dry. Everything else was on point. Will definitely return. Free refill drinks. That was a nice extra that really impressed us. Excellent customer service. Chill environment

The food was wonderful, the salsa was some of my favorite I've ever had. The chips were great, and the service was very fast and friendly. It's in a good location and the outside as well as inside are well kept.

Maciels is always great. Midtown location is always very fast, food is fresh and so delicious. Hours are convenient and the patio is great when the weather is good

The tacos are huge for the price. Very pretty, they don't skimp on the veggies. They don't taste as good as they look, but still decent tacos. Their meats could benefit from some marinating. If you want phenomenal tacos, go down the road to tacos n'ganas.

I am hesitant to write this review since I ordered this meal through Grubhub rather than in person - I suspect my experience would have been better in person.I ordered a shrimp burrito for lunch thinking it would travel well, but unfortunately it was not packaged separately from the refried beans and rice. By the time my order made it to me, the beans had partially transferred over to the burrito, soaking the tortilla and its contents. To make matters worse, the eating utensils I asked for were not sent with the order, so I wasn't able to eat a good portion of the meal. Finally - and this is minor compared to the rest - the soda I ordered was room temperature.I won't be ordering from here through Grubhub again, though I'd be willing to give it another try in person.
