There are numerous Los Portales locations in Jackson. This one is a smaller one near the baseball fields. We ate here on Saturday October 17, 2020. We ordered from the lunch menu that was variations of a Burrito covered with nacho sauce with rice and beans. The food is good and the service prompt. It has the best sweet tea in town. The restaurant is small. That Saturday they were having youth baseball. There were families some with and some without masks. The food and service was good, but in these COVID days of coughing kids, you worry about protection. I felt that maybe people were too close. Now they have lifted most restrictions so nothing was officially wrong, but I would've like to see more distance than was there. One notable change, they restaurant is closed on Sunday. Prior to the pandemic, it was open on Sunday. The prices also seem to be a lot higher than I remember. The food was good, but be aware of the closeness and significant price increases.

Awful service. The waitress got everyone in the restaurant's orders wrong, was rude and had a bad attitude. Really explains why only 10 people were in the whole restaurant on a Saturday night. No idea how the food was because it never came out right and we left.

I came here for dinner on a weeknight, and it was not too busy. The service was excellent, the waitresses gave us excellent attention and tons of drink and chip refills. For my meal I got the Molcajete and it was severely lacking. It had a decent amount of chicken, but no cactus or other meats. The avocado still had the skin and sticker on it, and the beans were cold. I decided to order a flan too, and it was awful. Completely tasteless and still frozen in some places. Pretty bad experience, won't come back.

We are heading south on the highway with an overnight stop in Jackson. This place had my five stars when I tasted the crisp Dos Equis Amber with lime in an icy mug. I ordered the shrimp enchiladas which came in a creamy white sauce. My husband also had shrimp, but fajita style, also tasty. The menu is enormous and it was hard to make a selection with so many delicious sounding choices. The service was prompt and courteous and the usual salsa and chips hit the spot. The food is good without being overly spicy. And of course there are bottles of hot sauce if you crave more picante fare! I would definitely stop here on our next drive down highway 40!

The food is good and every time we go here the manager makes us feel welcome and let's us know how much he appreciates our business which you don't find too much anymore. They are really nice and seem to want to make sure you are pleased with both their food and their service. I would recommend this Los Portales.

Disclaimer: I travel A LOT. I dislike Tex-Mex, and LOVE Mexican food. Nothing tastes better than an authentic taco from the streets of Mexico. Oh, and I'm white (which throws off Hispanic people when I start speaking Spanish). If you're a hard working local (Go Vols!), all respect to you, this place is great, hands down. Also, stop reading this place deserves 5 stars. If you're not from the area, or have had real Mexican food, read on. I ordered their version of street tacos (Tacos de Carne) on corn tortillas. The meat was VERY plentiful, seasoned to gringo standards, and served with typical toppings. Basically a gringo's delight. I know well enough in advance that because the word "taquería" was not on the sign ot front and the words "tacos mexicanos" were nowhere on the menu that the taquero's mom wasn't hand pressing maíz in the back. I was, however, REALLY disappointed that my corn tortillas were falling apart and were not cooked (I would have sent the plate back, but I am pleased for time on this trip), and the tomatillo was straight out of a jar (no attempt to doctor it up). I knew I was in for a disappointment when I asked the joven where the street tacos were on the menu, but how does one mess up a corn tortilla? No me gusta. I will say that the redeeming value ti this dish was the refried beans. They tasted smoked. Why then, did I give this 3 stars instead of 1 or 2? My aging gringo mother is traveling with me and she LOVED the Pechuga Frita, plus when I asked for the check, in Spanish, the older, distinguished gentleman responded in Spanish that my camarero had it at the bar.The prices are great, but the gringo tax you will pay here is with your tastebuds.

We arrived 45 minutes before closing time after 9 hours on the road. They were mopping and cleaning the restaurant, including pushing the dish cart part us and using the carpet sweeper next to us. As a couple, we received one menu, and had to ask for a second. Food was far from tasty. At check-out the person at the cashier station forced himself to look up from his texting to run our credit card and hand me the tape to sign. He then gave me a copy, resumed texting, and did not thank us or acknowledge our existence. We are sorry we visited for a second time, it is obvious no one cares here.

The location on Parkstone is horrible. The man who sat us was rude and dismissive. The food was just 'okay'. The second time I ordered takeout and was charged dinner price for a lunch item.
