Lep's BBQ

The mister and I decided to try it out on a Saturday evening after walking around the flea market for a few hours. I got the BBQ (pulled pork) plate with dirty rice and french fries as my two sides. The pulled pork was good but I wasn't a big fan of the bbq sauce that was on top. Redeeming factor: they had Big Bob Gibson white sauce as an option on the table of sauces. Nice! The dirty rice had potential to be extremely tasty but had many pieces that were quite hard...as if it spent a little too much time under the heat lamp. The fries were fresh and excellent - crinkle cut deliciousness. The mister ordered the ribs and fries. Smart move because both were excellent. I was jealous and wished I had ordered the same. Soft drinks are canned....and $1....lame. Drinks are self serve. Tea is located on a table off to the side close to the cooler for the canned drinks. You order and pay at the counter. There is a chalkboard menu to choose from and there is also a hot bar (similar to what you would find in a gas station) full of foods to choose from.

Good pulled pork. Excellent chicken. Only open Thurs-Sat.

The food was phenomenal. I had the brat, baked beans, lima beans and potato salad. I could not get over how tasty everything was. I also tasted the nachos and the cole slaw. The barbecue sauce on the nachos was so flavorful. And the cole slaw was so good that even I liked it--and I don't like cole slaw. It was fun to hear some local music (the wonderful The Porch Rockers). The atmosphere was friendly and down-home. Lep himself worked the room, making sure everyone was having a good experience. Great local joint. I'd bring out-of-town guests here for a good, casual time and good Southern cookin'.

We stopped in for a BBQ sandwich. Wow. It was fantastic. Don't miss the slaw The house sauce is fantastic as well. They're conveniently located just off highway 6, but this is a destination restaurant. They can cater your party as well.
