Latham's Meat

My dad and I often meet for breakfast at different places, and Latham's was a recent choice. The food is top-notch, the service is friendly, and the ambiance is that of an old fashioned country store. But don't go for the ambiance-go for the food!

The wife and I bought ribs for dinner tonite. They were too dry to eat. I think they had been under a heat light water too long. We tossed three racks in the trash. Never again...

Best Barbecue sandwich in my history of barbecue. Get the large size with the hot sauce and slaw. It's a meal to die for. God created a sandwich to go to heaven's gate. He may take your sandwich away. So get two to go.

There is no doubt about it this is the place to eat. Their barbecue sandwiches are absolutely delicious. But they have other options to choose from and I had the meatloaf, mashed potatoes and green beans the other day and that was the best meatloaf I have ever eaten. The whole meal was fabulous. I had a few other things and so far everything has been amazing.They also have meats you can buy and take home to cook yourself. The service is good and they are friendly. It's not a fancy place but it ids a nice clean place and you can eat right there. They have tables and chairs for eating right there. Check this place out you will not be sorry.

The ribs are absolutely fantastic. The sausage was also incredibly juicy with a great snap to the casing. Highly recommended.

Good southern food. Service is always good because someone is there to help you. Ambiance is just a huge family style restaurant with cooked foods and drinks.

High quality prime beef, not choice grade, so flavor and tenderness is fabulous. Their thick butterflied pork chops are also amazing

I found myself in Memphis on business and I'm a big bar-b-que fan. This was the second of 3 different bar-b-que joints I visited, for 3 straight meals. This was lunch on day two.Latham's was okay. It's a step up to the counter - cafeteria style joint. You move on down the line, and pick your stuff. Then you go and fine yourself a table. You also help yourself to the drink station, so there really is no "service" so to speak.I got a rack of ribs and a couple sides. May have overdone it.The food was good, but not as good as Reggie's. Ribs were a little dry. I can now say that I am not a big fan of Memphis Style Bar-B-Que. I didn't (until now) know the difference. Memphis Style is Vinegar based. Very watery. And the Ribs aren't cooked in it. They cook the meat in a dry rub. Then you squirt the bar-b-que sauce on at the table. I prefer the southern tomato based sauce, where the ribs are cooked in it. I also learned that there is a Carolina mustard based sauce (haven't tried that yet).

Latham's is reliable as a butcher, and every time I've called with a question, staff is knowledgeable and friendly.
