My dad's family is from the area and introduced me to LD&D as a kid. We I have kids of my own and I make a trip about twice a year just for the BBQ and I bring home plenty for the people of STL.Nobody get the great smoked flavor in the pulled pork like LD&D the ribs are good too the meat falls off the bone. I've gotten the chick for my son and he loves it but for me is a pulled pork sandwich.See you soon LD&D!

My grandparents, my brother and I decided to try this place out after seeing the awful reviews for Hills, and my grandma saying that she never really liked Hills. We each ordered a pork barbecue sandwich, and we all agreed that they were tasty. The meat was tender and delicious. There are two kinds of barbecue sauce at the table. One of them is supposed to be hot, but even I (who can usually only eat mild salsa) slathered my barbecue in hot sauce and devoured it without breaking a sweat. The ambiance is pleasant enough- there's an HDTV that was tuned to ESPN - and the service was prompt. We were the only people sitting inside, but several people picked up carryout orders while we were there. If you're looking for a good pork barbecue sandwich, give this place a shot. My grandparents are from the area, and they told me this place's prices are in line with other local barbecue joints.

LDD has moved to a new location so I called for directions - wish I had passed. The restaurant is now located at 1106 Cuba Rd in Mayfield. Ordered the lunch special to go - small pulled pork (medium sauce) & fries. The food was cold. Bun was stale. Small means small. The fries had to have been an hour old and were served in a bag three times the portion size they gave you. So you have an enormous bag 1/3 full of cold crinkle cut fries straight out of the freezer. The kicker is that on their mobile rig they have "6x Grand Champion at Paducah's BBQ on the River!". Do yourself a favor and hit them up there as that is where their "A" game is apparently. The store front not so much...

Great place for great tasting BBQ, we've bought it from here for years and prefer it heads and tails above other local Qrs. However, the catfish and hushpuppies aren't all that great, and I would love to see them develop a thicker sauce as a companion to their old standard.

Have eaten their several times and since the move it just seems so/so. Since moving here from TX I held it to high standards and it's ok, but not great. The sauce is something I pass on since the first time I tried it as it tastes like warmed up tomato sauce with a little dash of something. Ribs are ok but if you have any problem with gluten they dust the ribs in flour prior to cooking. Have zero idea why anyone would do that. Not a place I frequent often.

I recently bought 1/2 rack of ribs and baked beans to go. The $12.95 for 6 ribs would have been fine if they'd been good. Didn't really have a BBQ flavor. Tasted more like oven baked with a rub. With all that pork available I couldn't believe the beans were made with artificial bacon bits. One bite and I threw them out. LD&D win a lot of BBQ circuit awards. Maybe they ought to stick to that. Love the people, the food not so much.
