Lackey's Smoke House BBQ

Such a wonderful find! Our family was driving in to see family in Jonesboro from Little Rock. We struggled to find a place to eat that wasn't fast food. Stumbled upon Lackey's and we haven't stopped talking about it since. The owner and chef were wonderful. Very kind, warm, engaging and helpful. We have a picky group of eaters so had a lot of questions. They were fabulous! Everything our family ordered, from tamales to fish to butterfly shrimp was excellent. If you haven't tried it, don't think twice. It's all around wonderful!

The pulled pork, sauce and French fries were great. My husband had the covered tamale plate and was not impressed. We went to the lunch spot based on other reviews of the tamales. Oops should have stuck with the hamburgers . Definitely a hole in the wall. If you're looking for fine dining keep driving.

I currently live in Austin, Tx. Every visit home, I drive 40 miles round-trip for these tamales. Buy them by the dozen, you will not regret it. I've bought these and took on a trip to Michigan. A trip to the lake for New year's. Several trips for friends when I return to Austin. I'm sure they must flavor the massa as they are very flavorful with the right amount of spice. Good hot as they come or cold as leftovers. Good ol BBQ joint, have a seat and enjoy the history of the place. Locals know the place. Tourist or just passing through, look for the battered old non sign sign.

Visiting my mom, I live in Virginia, and went out early before everyone was up looking for breakfast. Found this place because of all the farm trucks in the parking lot. I ordered the ham and cheese omelette with hash browns. Place was clean, for a BBQ place, and the service was quick. The staff was very nice and the portions are large. I can recommend breakfast and will come back again.

Doesn't look like much, in fact probably the definition of a hole in the wall restaurant, but the food was pretty darn good. Pulled pork sandwich with slaw was very moist and flavorful. Tamales with chili and cheese were very tasty as well. Hushpuppies were disappointing. They were just bland with no flavor. Service was friendly if not fast. I'd return if I were near Newport again.

This spot may not look like much but the hospitality inside along with the great food is top of the line, we felt welcomed and they served hush puppies on the house. Great decor and when the jalapeños for my Appetizer were not available the waiter respectfully came out and asked if I would like to order something else their bathrooms were clean. There is absolutely nothing I would add to improve this experience. Great BBQ!

I love this place! I travel from Memphis just to have the tamales and the fried fish. The customer service is also wonderful.

This is based solely on that pulled pork sandwich. It feels like you rarely, if ever, actually get smoked pork anymore. It seems everyone is use a crockpot/oven so that the pork stays floating in its juices. This sandwich had SOOOO much bark in it you could never doubt it spent at least 6 hours in the smoker. The smoke was in EVERY bite! The bbq sauce was tangy, but sparingly used. I'm not saying this was the perfect sandwich, but it was about as close as you can get. It's only about 5minutes off from the highway so if you're heading up to St. Louis via HWY 67, this is a must stop.

Went there about a year ago for breakfast burritos. I called put the order in they said it would be 20 minutes. I got there they said it wasn't done yet. We waited about 10 more minutes and she tried to take my card when I asked her if it was done yet and she said no. I asked for my card and she threw it at me through the window. It was very unprofessional and then I went inside to talk to the manager and apparently she owned it. Then told me to get out when she was in the wrong. Never tried to make it right. Literally the worst service I had ever gotten.

Food is very pricey and is ok at best. Service is hit or miss. Needs to be updated badly. Very outdated
