King of Kings Barbeque

After seeing all the five star reviews on Facebook I decided to try King of King BBQ at Covington Pike and Stage. On my first and only visit they were slow; I purchased a rib and sausage sandwich. The ribs were tough /dry and the sausage was very small for the price. Their prices are too high for the portions being served; of all the five star reviews on Facebook, it's odd not one mentioned the high pricing. Makes me believe Facebook reviews were created by King of King friends and family.I feel I wasted my money. Your luck may be better.

This is my go-to for BBQ when I'm in Memphis! I've had the lamb, the turkey, and the pulled pork and have ALWAYS loved everything I've ever eaten. Plus, their customer service was on point. If you're looking for good BBQ - King of Kings is the food truck you want to find.

The barbeque was top notch.Very smokey,flavorful,and just the right amount of char.The potato salad and baked beans I got were a perfect compliment as sides for my meat.The chef/owner was courteous,but there was one thing that made me raise my eyebrows and has since deterred from returning for a second visit.I was inquiring about the price of cookies,and was quoted a price of $2.00 per cookie.I felt like that was steep,since it was not posted and the owner appeared to make that price up on the fly.He was still in the process of setting up this particular evening,which may be why the price of cookies was not advertised on his dry erase board.I try to patron minority owned businesses as much as possible,but $4.00for two cookies(one chocolate chip and one butter),is borderline price gouging.The cookies were good,but not worth that amount.Wish them continued success,but reduce the price on the desserts.

I paid $24 for some chicken nachos & a bottle of off brand water that were not good. The chips were stale & the chicken, cheese , & barbecue sauce were very bland. I was highly disappointed, I know people raise their prices when COGIC is in town & I don't mind paying & supporting but please give quality food if your going to charge ridiculous prices.
