This BBQ joint is the real deal! Rustic, warm and inviting cabin serving authentic pit barbecue. For lunch I had the pulled pork plate, which included about 1/3 pound of pulled pork and two sides. Pork was very flavorful as was their barbecue sauce. Beans were smoky & hearty with bits of pork. They also give you free hush puppies when they seat you at your table and hush puppies were actually very good. All of this wonderful food for $6.99! They even have a drive-through. Why would anyone pay more for a fast food combo meal? Not far off the beaten path and definitely worth a visit.

I went here for lunch while visiting a customer of mine, and the service was exceptional! I ordered the smoked chicken plate and it was delicious and the gentleman at the drive-through window discussed all the options and what was good or not good there and I'm gonna be sure to come back and try the fish.

This is my favorite restaurant in Moulton by far! The first positive here is that you get unlimited hush puppies as an appetizer. These are some of the better hush puppies I have had as well. The barbecue here is very good as well and has never disappointed. They also have surprisingly good chicken wings for a barbecue restaurant.

Stopped in for lunch last week and ordered pork sandwich and a couple of ribs on the side. The barbecue was okay, maybe a little dry. The issue for me was the water smells and tastes bad. They say it is a Moulton problem that has gone on for several months. Drinking the iced tea ruined my lunch. i mentioned that they need to filter the water. Based on all this, I had to stretch to get my rating to a low 3. Btw....the cabin is pretty cool.

Ordered smoked 1/2 chicken bbq plate with salad for both my husband and I . Breast was dry. It was about noon so maybe reheated or overcooked. Service was fast and accompanied by smiles. She continually checked on us. The building however is unique. In 1995, when it was already about 130 years, it was moved to its current location. Nice comfy setting with clean bathrooms . Worth exploring!

It was recommended by a local to go to this location instead of the one on the Hwy. Yes, there are two different John's BBQs very close to one another and they aren't a chain. It's an adorable, rustic looking log cabin building with a pond and picnic table out front. The drive-thru menu is huge as they have a menu selection much larger than I've seen at any other BBQ joint. The inside consists of divided rooms which make it feel quaint and homey.I've stopped here before on my way through Moulton to get me some fried dill pickles. Was surprised to see corn dogs on the menu so I thought I'd try one. A little disappointed that it was a basic frozen style corn dog. Oh well, life goes on. The dill pickles were good though, a little salty tasting and a bit greasy, but all in all good. When I knew that I'd be in Moulton during lunch I decided to make a stop for a full blown meal. Boy did I ever get a full blown meal. The waitress brought me a basket with 4 hushpuppies as she took my drink order. They were crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside with a hint of onion flavor. I ordered the lunch BBQ pork plate which came with two sides. I chose the potato salad and Jailhouse slaw which she stated was spicier than other slaws. I also ordered a small fried dill pickle. My pork plate was quite large and I'd consider it a good value for the price. The pork was tender and juicy and the BBQ sauce from the table added a hint of sweetness. The BBQ didn't have much of a smoke flavor if that's what you're looking for, but I appreciated how moist it was.The Jailhouse slaw....well it was a bit too overwhelming for my palette, not for the spice level because it really didn't seem too spicy, it was super tangy-much like a vinegar and mustard combination explosion. It paired wonderfully with a bite of pork but alone was too tangy. I could definitely see it being used as a condiment for a BBQ pork sandwich, which would taste great, but I'm not sure it really makes the best side item. The potato salad was a cold mayo based salad with chunks of red potatoes. It was good, just not my favorite style of potato salad. The order of dill pickles seemed much larger than what I had received to-go on my previous visit. They again were very good, but greasy. Nothing a paper towel can't fix.

This is our go to place for good pork BBQ in Moulton. Food is consistently good. I usually do take out so am not commenting on service. The baked beans are excellent. BBQ sauce is OK but I prefer Baby Rays sauce.

They really don't have a good system at their drive-thru window, they don't have a microphone and no matter how long the first person's order is they never ask them to pull forward and that they'll bring it out to them so that they can go ahead and take and start working on the next person's order they just literally take and fill one order at a time. So it might be better to go inside and order food to go from the counter If you don't want to sit there and overheat your car in line. They use fake bacon bits on their stuffed potatoes, It's a barbecue place you think the least they could do is have real bacon. Or at least warn you because I would have ordered without them I find them absolutely disgusting. The white sauce is way too sweet so much sugar in it It almost made by potato a dessert instead of a savory dish. I also got a pulled pork sandwich to try, It was so incredibly dry it sucked to the moisture out of my tongue, I have never had such dry pulled pork anywhere in Alabama. They barely gave me a teaspoon of slaw on the sandwich which is a sad ratio, and you don't get enough of that vinegar bite to contrast the fatty richness of the pork. A lot of the pork ends were sort of burnt and clumped together which goes towards the dryness and just unpleasant to chew in the mouth bad texture having those big dry ends clumping the meat together. And I got a side of collard greens. For Alabama they were the most pitiful unseasoned collard greens I have ever ate. My toddler loves collard greens and he refused to close his mouth around them and just sat there with his tongue out and the collard green setting on them until I removed them for him. My toddler is not a picky eater, he is a garbage disposal, But he hated them too much to close his mouth. I think they have such an expansive menu they literally make everything but they're not really taking time to make any one thing really well. Very disappointed. I hear their ribs are award-winning so I might give them one more chance to redeem themselves and try their ribs one day and see if maybe that's something they actually spend time on making well.
