I really wanted to like this place because it had the outside look of a sort of hole in the wall but cool barbecue place. It's a small place and they're very friendly inside. However, the barbecue tasted mediocre at best. I had both the pork and the beef. Very little smoke flavor.

This place is the real deal, BBQ fans. After spending the morning on a trip to the Cullman Flea Market (which was a complete bust), my wife and I were starved. Not wanting to wait until we got back to Birmingham to get some grub, we pulled off in Dodge City looking for a spot that had a few solid reviews. Alas, the place we sought was no longer around, and Jim B's BBQ was the only thing around that looked acceptable. We decided to take a chance on the place (even though the sign reads Jim B's BBQ, Steak and Seafood, and I typically steer clear of anyplace that claims multiple specialties that includes seafood). We might have skipped the place over, but I was hungry and as we pulled up, you could smell the BBQ in the parking lot. Being first-timers, the friendly waitress steered us to the Loaded Mushrooms (think loaded baked potato, but instead of a potato under all of that cheese and ranch and bacon, its fried mushrooms). They were as good as they sound. The prices were so cheap and the BBQ smelled so good, I decided to go all-in and got the BBQ sampler platter. My wife picked the pulled pork sandwich. Everything was great. The baked beans were even awesome (sweet and bacony), and I'm really not a huge bean fan. The BBQ pork had a good smoke flavor. The chicken was juicy. The smoked sausage was good and seemed to be very fresh. The ribs were a little dry, but they were very tender. To top it all off, with as much food as we ordered, our bill was just over $30 including tip. The dry ribs are the only thing keeping them from five stars on this visit. I'm probably spoiled by all of the good BBQ in the South, but I just can't give five stars to a BBQ joint unless all of the que is top notch.

This is a great place. Friendly staff, I asked a question about the shrimp the waitress went and asked to make sure she answered my question properly. I really appreciated that. My daughter got the jumbo shrimp and they were good. The bean are slap your momma good. The smoked chicken was delicious as was the smoked turkey. I'm new to the white sauce and I really like theirs. We were very pleased with every thing and will definitely go back again. Well worth it.

If you want some really great b-que that practically melts in your mouth, I recommend trying Jim B's. The portions are big and the food is outstanding. the homemade ranch dressing was a hit with me. I covered my b-que salad that had a huge pile of b-que on top. I couldnt finish the whole thing. The fries are golden and krispie also! The people there are very humble and welcoming and service you with a smile. If you're in the mood for some really great b-que visit this awesome place. It beats out any b-que joint in Cullman, Al thats for sure! Thanks Jim B's b-que for a delicious dinner! I'll be back!
