J&J Fish House

So I'm really not a fried food kinda guy, but I was hankering for fish. We're working around the corner from this place and decided to give it a shot. I ordered fried Catfish filets and fried green tomatoes [ I figured if I'm gonna eat fried food, I may as well go all the way :) ] Well, the tomatoes were fried perfectly, lightly breaded, my only complaint is that they were so over salted I couldn't finish it. The fish was a bit better, cornmeal breading again a bit heavy handed with the salt, but passable. I'm sure my pressure will top out soon..My guys both had cheese burgers and fries and said theirs were fine. Tomorrow I'll try another place for lunch

My first time here will be my last. I paid over $17 for 3 rubbery pieces of fish, a tiny cup of slaw, too spicy to eat fried green tomatoes and 2 very dry jalapeño hushpuppies. The inside of the fish was ok, but the batter was awful. The slaw was decent but yucky compared to KFC or Long John Silver's. Honestly, the only thing I ate was the slaw. The service was laughable as the guy dropped my fish in the floor as he was fixing it. Another downer was the fact that there was no full menu for the unworkable drive thru...

A bit pricey for the atmosphere but the food was surprisingly good. We enjoyed the cat fish and their ice tea was fresh.

I have had more visits to this establishment and each time we were consistently greeted with enthusiasm and great service. I had to try the salad again and other items. The salad was much bigger than the first and the chicken portion was, as well. We tried the chicken tenders, fried chicken, Jo Jo's (seasoned fries potatoes wedges), Seasoned fries, crinkle fries and fried okra. All these items are, consistently, good and cooked to perfection. The drink station needs constant cleaning and possibly reorganizing, as it doesn't allow for smooth flow of foot traffic. At times in the middle of the week, during the later afternoon, the restaurant was quiet creating a nice mild ambiance, while weekends were far more busy, full but community-like atmosphere. Lunch time is busy and busy means fresh food is at its best. There are more than four cake desserts to choose from and banana pudding. This restaurant has become a place we frequent, monthly.

Busy on a Saturday afternoon with a lot of carry out orders. Recommended by a Catholic priest friend of ours who lives in the area. Tried popcorn shrimp it was good but the portion was a wee bit small. Hush puppies were homemade w/onions and corn kernels in it. The catfish was tasty but dainty. Lamb gyro was good Krispy krunchy chicken was as advertised and also had a good spicy kick to it. Fried Okra & spicy French fries were good.

Tasty chicken, for a Fish HouseMy wife and I recently met up with other family members to enjoy a tasty meal at J&J. While most everyone had different food choices, everyone appeared to enjoy their meal. Although we did get our food, the delivery was a bit slow. Ironically, it was the fish meals that were delivered last.However, the 3-piece Dark of Krispy Krunchy Chicken that I had was fantastic! The chicken arrived hot, and it was moist, spicy, and full of flavor. The legendary "Krunch" was a hit for me. The seasoned fries were also good, but a wee bit cold when they arrived. The rest of our group said their food was good too. Now they also had some good looking desserts, but I was too full to even try them - on this visit, maybe next time.If you're nearby, you may know how good the food tastes. If you don't know or if you're just passing through Bolivar, check them out if you want a good meal.

If I could give a minus star I would!!! I must post one star ! The site apparently only sells dark meat, they do not bother with white chicken meat!!! Don't bother wasting time or money here if you want chicken breasts!!!

Delicious food. Fresh because it's cooked to order. The staff is always nice. Just a good pleasant place with great food.

That was my first time ever been in there but I've never tasted some good whole cat fish like I have in this place!and I'm all the way from Florida, customer service was great it's not a fast food place but it sure is worth it waiting every second of my time!!

Stopped in for lunch today. Appeared to be the first lunch customer. Ordered a cheeseburger and fries. The fries were cold and rubbery. If it weren't for the condiments on the burger I don't think there would have been any flavor to it.
