Location is great! Walkable to everything. Staff is really nice and the coffee smell in the morning is heavenly. Rooms are small and a bit moldy, but we didn't expect to be in the room much. Quick getaway for Valentine's Day that is affordable and worth the reset.

I was excited to go here for my birthday staycation! When I arrived that excitement was gone quickly. To start, the service was not good. I did not feel welcomed. The front desk clerk was rude and short. She barely wanted to inform me on where to park, she just kept saying don't park in front of "my" hotel! So anyway, once we finally figured out parking, we came back in to continue our transaction. We received a key and proceeded to our room. We stayed all of 5-7 minutes and left. From the fact there was no TV in the bedroom to the stained curtains and walk way it just didn't have a feeling of comfort (see pictures). There were no complimentary items and no resolve for our discomfort. For the amount we were paying, as a customer there should just be more and comparable to the other hotels in the area. I don't want to totally say Hu is not good for a social hour on the rooftop. I been before and it was a cool vibe, but nothing I am rushing back to. I want better for Hu because they have good potential. I am sure they didn't get all of the renovations and updates for nothing.

We booked our room months ago for an event at that hotel. Less than 48 hours from the event, we received an email saying our reservation has been canceled. When I called the hotel, the woman said I should've received a call from Expedia to re-book somewhere else. I said "well when was it canceled?" She responded, "today". Well they can't fix what they don't know. I asked her what hotels would be offered to us instead and she hung up on me. I proceeded to go to the hotel website where they still have rooms available for this weekend and they are virtually the same rate (minus $10) per night. The hotel continued to tell the rep that they are overbooked even though they show rooms available on their site. Extremely poor business procedures from this hotel.

Fantastic staff from front desk to the rooftop bar. The room was comfortable, clean and nicely appointed. Sunset at the bar was epic. There's no valet so you have to navigate to one of the two decks near the property.

I travelled to Memphis for the first time and felt so lucky to stay at the Hu. I absolutely LOVED my stay - the room was spacious, clean, and comfortable and the staff was incredibly kind, helpful and professional.I also loved the location and being able to walk to Beale Street, the waterfront, Memphis Chess Club, the trolley and more. My advice: skip the hotel breakfast. It was quite bland, incredibly overcooked on some items (dark crunchy bacon anyone?) with cold eggs. The rooms, while very nice, were also pretty understocked. Upon check in there was only one half roll of toilet paper, no extra blankets for the bed and a very small batch of towels. The staff is happy to provide additional supplies, but most hotels at this price point have some additional supplies in the room to avoid any embarrassing moments of running out of toilet paper etc.

The hotel is ok for the price I was expecting extravagant but far from. I understand though the convenience and location is where the pricing comes into play. I got the standard room and after taxes total certainly wasn't worth over $300 on top of that buffet is $15 a person and parking is $22. I gave it 3 stars because of presentation, the staff are excellent and very polite. Roof top bar prices are high as well. It's only about a 10 min walk to Beale St so if me and the wife were still in our 20's or 30's we would have definitely hit up the night life. This was our first stop on a road trip I had planned last minute for our 25th Year Wedding Anniversary. The experience and memories are priceless as always.

If you want nostalgia it's a cool place. But it's lacking many things that seem to have been forgotten: ice bucket in the room, no TV in the bedroom (who doesn't like to watch TV in bed on vaca?), bare minimum glassware and towels, no coffee. The people are really nice, and that's a plus. But we feel like we're in a much cheaper Holiday Inn.
