Hoskins BBQ

Food was good tasting but cold pork sandwich. Not busy so was expecting to be better. Good atmosphere. On outskirts of town. May or not be back. Will probably try a place in town next time.

Considering I cook brisket/BBQ/ribs at home on my smoker, I am hesitant to try any local eateries with the same type of food because they just aren't anywhere close to something made on a regular smoker. This place can come close or it did on our one visit anyway. It's very good for non homemade smoked meat. I had the brisket and was pleasantly surprised. Also the prices were very good too. This is a recommend for sure! The service was fine and the dining room was clean and looked up to standard.

We think that Hoskins has the best barbecue and brisket in the area! You can get the meat pulled or chopped and they have good sides. The sauce choices are good - I like the peppery Texas style while my husband likes the original. We stop in every time we are in the area.

On a Saturday night----- They were out of nearly every side they make. No desserts. And the bbq was at least 30% fat. I'll stay in Paducah next time.

Everything smelled delicious when I walked in, so I ordered a cup of chili topped with cheese and onions. When I got it and took the first bite it was horrible because not only was it extremely salty and tasted like an entire box of salt was dumped in it,but it also tasted like canned chili. I told the server my experience and she asked if she could get me something to replace it and I asked for chicken wings, in which she said all they could do is replace the chili with 3 wings and I told her that would be fine. My sister went to the counter to order some potato wedges and also ordered herself some wings. When she ordered hers the server was told to charge for my wings and they were added to my sister's order. We had to get it all to go because they said they were closing and when we got home to eat we saw disaster. All of the chicken wings were burned so badly that you could smell the char before taking them out of the box. Because of this experience I will never eat at that establishment again and will be telling everyone that I know that if they are ever in the location, whether it's living there in Mayfield, Kentucky or just traveling through and looking for some good barbecue and good service to never go to Hoskins Barbecue, unless they just want to waist their hard earned money on food they can't eat or they enjoy eating really burned food.

Friendly cashier, ordered sampler for 2, very delicious, nice looking restaurant, food was delicious, and plenty of parking. We will definitely be back.

Appearance great, walked in to a very clean environment, ordered the two meat plate and when they served it had one little piece of brisket and 2 bones of ribs, and they was mostly bones, had to pay $1.58 extra for the little piece of brisket. VERY DISAPPOINTED in the portion to price which was $15.00 (rounded off) for what I mentioned above.

Our choice for big gatherings when we have lots of family members in town. Plenty of room to sit together at tables and booths. Great food!!

My usual/favorite BBQ place in Mayfield is closed on Mondays, so my coworker and I decided to try Hoskins. Hoskins had a really nice building, beautifully designed and reminds me if being in a lodge in the mountains.As for the food, that's another story. I had the pulled-pork sandwich and potato wedges. And the potato wedges were probably the best I've ever eaten. But the meat, well, it was the driest pork barbecue I think I have ever eaten. If you like yours dry, this is the place for you. It tasted fine but I prefer my barbecue pork tender and juicy. And there didn't appear to be any seasoning in the meat, just bland. As for the sauces, I tried the sweet (strong taste of mustard with this one) and the original (string taste of vinegar here) so I don't plan on ever returning.

Very disappointed. In the past the food was reasonably priced and generous portions. Today we had burgers and they were sub par. Dry and very small. The French fry portion is half the size it was in the past. Also, the prices are so high now. We drive over 50 miles to eat there. Not anymore. They need to rethink the changes made and go back to the way they were.
