This is an awesome business and I'm thrilled that this exists in Memphis. Aerial arts is a specialized discipline, so some aerial arts gyms can seem really "closed" to those of us who just have a passing interest -- not so with High Expectations. They hosted a beginners Valentines Day workshop yesterday night that my husband and I really enjoyed! The gym sent out important info via email beforehand (bring water and wear pants that cover the backs of your knees). Instructors Danielle and Anne were welcoming, encouraging, and informative. The gym was heated (but there's no A/C in the summer), and there was a large area with thick tumbling mats, aerial silks, static trapeze (not the flying kind) and hoops (there's an official "aerial" name for that which I can't remember). We got to try out each apparatus and learn a few partner tumbling moves -- it was a lot of fun! They offer beginning class series (I think they said they are starting a new partner series in March), private lessons ($70) and shared private lessons ($35 each, you find someone to share with you). There's also open gym on select evenings for $10 (if you're already a student at the gym and want to come practice). If you've never tried aerial arts before, you should give it a shot at least once! Even for beginners, it's fun and challenging, and the team at High Expectations is kind and supportive.

I took my daughter (5 yrs old) for a lesson and she loved it. The instructor was great and everyone was very helpful. Will definitely go back for more lessons.
