NOT ketchup and mustard. They're some kind of hot sauces. Very good but the red one is super spicy.

Food - excellent! Service - friendly. Staff - knowledgable. Ambiance - very casual. It's one of this hole-in-the-wall Mexican joints. Except it's more El Salvadoran than Mexican. Very authentic. Menu on the small side. Really good. Highly recommend. The menu does not have much in the way of descriptions so we turned to trusty internet searches to get answers. As I said, authentic, very good, hole-in-the-wall. Small establishment. Definitely recommend.

This place is really, really good! Very casual and, as some others have described it, humble almost. A significant majority of customers speak Spanish but it's not a problem if you don't, waiters still speak fluent English and are more than happy to answer any questions you may have. The food is amazing too! Be forewarned - a lot of it is really spicy. But most places with spicy food use spice as a substitute for flavor. Not this place. It's both spicy and delicious! Quick tip: if they give you what looks like bottles of ketchup and mustard, it ain't. They're bottles of some kind of hot sauce. Assuming it's the same each time, the red one is burn-a-hole-in-the-bottom-of-your-jaw spicy, while the yellow seemed to be pretty tasty (although it was hard to taste it considering I only had 2 tastebuds left after the red one).

Now this place is quite a nice hole in the wall local find for us!!! It's not "just" Mexican, they've got El Salvadoran and Honduran items as well. Friendly patient service and answered all our questions (we had several). Definitely recommend this place and you'd be remiss if you didn't start your meal with some fried plantains which were very good, served with Queso fresco and créma.

I stumbled upon Herradero Taqueria in Horn Lake, Mississippi and decided to give it a try. One of the deciding factors for this establishment along the street filled with Mexican restaurants was that they offer papusas, a Salvadoran culinary treat and something that I can be kind of obsessed about. This restaurant is the very epitome of humble. There is nothing fancy about here. But whoever said that Mexican restaurants should be a high end affair? The best Mexican food I have had, I have always found in these humble little joints and Herradero Taqueria continues in that grand tradition. The tacos arrived first. They were very good and were brought to my table with a red and green salsa. While both were good oh, I had to give a slight edge the red salsa. It had a bit more check it was a bit more flavorful. My pupusas arrived with the traditional accompanying slaw and red salsa. This salsa is more tomato based and very mild. I slathered my papusas with it, as well as the hotter red and green salsas and dug in. Very good.I think it bears mentioning that my total for teo steak tacos and two papusas was twelve dollars, tax included. A great meal at a great price and I walked away full.

Doesn't look like much from the outside when you pass, but I was dying of hunger and decided to stop by for some tacos. Service was super quick and they have some authentic dishes and interesting combos. All I wanted to try were the tacos: al pastor and steak. I wasn't impressed since the al pastor was a bit salty for me, the steak tasted like ground beef, and the tortilla was a bit dry for my tasting. $2.50 for a taco for street style tacos, but fully loaded and topped with onions and cilantro. They also have some amazing refreshers to taste. So maybe I need to other other dishes to give it a another try.

I've eaten here a few time. The staff is friendly and helpful and the food is delicious. Not a Tex-Mex restaurant, so if that is what you're looking for then skip. But if you enjoy more south and Central American food, this is as good as you'll find in the area.
