Hard Times Deli

Again, a 5 star experience. This time it's menu item specific: the buffalo chicken Caesar. This one is like deconstructed umami in sandwich form. It's sweet (the Countrytime Lemonade powder), it's savory (the truffle Caesar dressing), it's just the right degree of heat (building through the meal, but fairly quick to dissipate) so that I wanted to keep eating (salty being present with the buffalo sauce). A little bit of earthy lightness from the lettuce, and there's not much of the five basic tastes that's lacking here.The bread, again, pitch perfect in holding back the amalgam inside the hull of the sub. The chicken was thinly-cut yet dense, the lettuce not watery-logged or slimy (as I would kind of expect given the amount of Caesar dressing inside). But the amount of dressing was appreciated. The sandwich is messy, however. This is not a bad thing, by any stretch. Have ample napkins nearby. Again, this is a two (large) serving sandwich, given that, to me a value. If you bc hopped it in half, I think it'd easily justify a $10 bill.

We tried this new deli shops because they recently opened. The food here is just okay (My Opinion) not delicious though! We ordered the chop cheese, it lacks flavor and the sandwich was very dry. The sandwiches are also kind of pricey too. We paid $3 for potato chips and another $3 for a Coke. Sandwich average around $17. The ambiance is very welcoming and charming. I like the Decor but it's very hard to move around. The cashier was very nice and friendly, loved her personality. The wait time was around 20min, it gets busy around lunch times so that's understandable and great for business. Maybe next time I'll try something different. If I do decide to return.

I got a chance for an early "try" at Hard Times Deli and I don't think I'll ever frequent any other deli ever! It was that good! We couldn't decide what to order so we got 3 different sandwiches (buff chx caeser, Italian and meat & potatoes) and all were amazing. Loved the simplicity of the deli and the staff and owners were friendly and welcoming. A must try place!

Amazing sandwiches and excellent staff. Very neat restaurant and a huge plus for Memphis.

The line was out of the door, but it was well worth the wait. Unfortunately, two of their chefs were out so their usual sides of pasta and potato salad were out of stock, but I was lucky enough to grab a toffee, chocolate chip, smoked salt cookie which dare I say was almost better than my sandwich. I had the buffalo chicken caesar, no tomato, and my partner had the eggplant parm. I do wish there was a vegan option. But both sandwiches were incredible and we will definitely be back!

The absolute best sammie spot in the city. A quiet cozy little spot right by sub studios. The chopped cheese goes toe to toe with any NYC spot. The service is quick and hot!
