Great place for some bbq eats. I had the full slab of ribs, fries & mac/cheese. The ribs are fall off the bone St. Louis Ribs. The fries are pretty basic, and the mac/cheese is good. They provide 3 sauces on the table, original, hot & a white sauce. I'm not a fan of any of the 3 but the ribs are seasoned so well you really don't need any sauce in my opinion. They get 1 star for the ribs, 1 star for the mac/cheese and 2 stars for customer service.The Full Slab Platter is $32.99, and it was so much food I actually had 3 meals. My server was Keely and she was a dream. Very personable & knowledgeable. Sadly, they do not offer any military discount. If you're in the area, I would say give them a try.

Went to the drive thru and pick up a small rib plate. The speed of the drive thru was average. I ordered ribs, Mac and cheese , potato salad. I found the price to be a fair price.

I've only been to Gibson's one time, and that was five years ago. My experience then was less than desirable I haven't been back...until now.So, I thought I'd give it another shot and at a different location. This is one of their newer locales, it's fairly small and you order at the counter and wait for your food like a typical QSR.I thought I'd try several things, so I went with a combo platter choosing brisket and chicken, with sides of potato salad, baked beans, and macaroni & cheese. The sides were all very good! (Last visit, I had their coleslaw as one of the sides, and it should not even be allowed to be called coleslaw - stay away!). Potato salad was fresh and creamy, the baked beans smoky, and the mac & cheese creamy and flavorful.Unfortunately, the meats didn't hit the mark for me. The smoked chicken was quite dry and the brisket was average.I did try their peanut butter pie for dessert and it was fairly good, but nothing especially noteworthy.The restaurant staff was friendly, but the place was not well-kept and was a bit dirty. Their trash receptacles were horrible as there is only a tiny 4 inch hole in which you are supposed to dump your trash. One ends up having to hand pick the trash off off the tray piece by piece in order to put it in their trash receptacle.

This is a tough review, as I know that this establishment is an Alabama icon. However, I would be remiss if I did not state the facts that I witnessed. First, the food tasted good, was well presented and provided good-sized portions. Regrettably, that's where the good stuff stops. The cashiers attitude was nonresponsive and cold, not very welcoming in any shape or manor. I know we all have bad days but when you're in the customer service business you have to check that at the door. I was taken aback by being charged .25 cents for a glass of tap water... come on man, build this cost into your meal prices and don't nickel and dime customers. In addition, you might want to take those .25 cents and pay someone to clean the dining room and tables, especially the sauce bottles and the salt and peppershakers. I went to use one and it was disgusting! These bottles have not seen a rag in a long time. I think you are on borrowed time and if you do not stop resting on your past laurels your fate is inevitable. As for me, I will not be back. Heaven only knows what the areas that you cannot see are like.

The best of the best everything!My favorites are, chicken potato and it's huge, I can make 4 meals off it, Brunswick stew, chicken, turnip greens. My brother in love, lives in Birmingham and I surprise him with the turnip greens because he really loves them.Great homemade pies too and delicious sweet tea.Great and fast service.

Good food! Great service at counter. Casual atmosphere, come as you are! I like the different sauces on table so I can try them all, including the sweet white sauce.

Haven't eaten here in a while but just as good as I remember. Ribs and greens--always the foundation of a memorable breakfast. I love that they open at 930 am. It gives me a reason to drag my carcass out of bed!!They don't have eggs and I don't care. LOLOL

I heard that Gibson Big Bob BBQ is one of the best BBQ in Alabama. So I had to try it. Price is very reasonable (very cheap) compare to prices in California.I had huge expectations on taste but very disappointed since it didn't taste good as I expected. Ribs still had too much fat in between meats. It seems like it is not cooked. However, meat was tender and soft and juicy.I never saw white BBQ sauce. Very interesting. Full of vinegar flavor and goes very well.

Some of the best BBQ in North Alabama! Fast and friendly service. This location offers a drive through or you can order at the counter and eat inside. They're known for their White sauce and BBQ sauce. The pulled pork and BBQ ribs are our go to! The pie is really good also. They accept contactless payment like ApplePay

We had the BBQ and it was great, it had a good taste and was cooked perfectly. Sauce's were on the table so you could put the amount you wanted on your BBQ without worrying about it being too much or not enough. I had the fries and they were awesome cooked perfectly not overly greasy or anything. Everything came out hot and on time after we had finished our salad. The salad was good also, we had the sauce on the side so we could put what we wanted on it as we ate also there were no ends or bad pieces as you usually get at other places. Service was Ok we had to get a few things for ourselves the menus to look at the deserts for one thing and a couple other things but nothing major. Ambiance is good lots of things to look at and a good bit of information posted on when and how they got started and some other information about Decatur and the surrounding area. It was really clean and plenty of room to get around in the place. The deserts were great also, I had a piece of the chocolate pie and the meringue was so high and moist, the wife had the coconut pie and it had the high meringue on it also just like the old days when mom used to make pies at home. We even had a couple pieces so we could bring some home for the next night. We were here on 10/30/2024.
