This is a great place to go if you're looking for something to do on a summer weekend, especially if you want to be indoors. They do have outdoor concerts every Friday in the summer, but they also offer events that are inside. I attended one of their "Jazz in the Box" concerts and it was intimate and lovely. There is a bar stand that offers a few select drinks, but most of the outdoor events are family-friendly. This is located near a lot do great restaurants and shops in Germantown if you want to spend a day out and about!

Amazing Arts Center! We used to always come here to see an old friend for her performing dances from her class. Beautiful place.

GPAC is a really nice theater! We attended a show here this past weekend, and I was really impressed by the experience. It's recently updated with lots of bathrooms, nice seating, good views from the seats, etc. A very nice theater! (Just FYI: Google Maps has the address slightly off, and we and another group ended up in a community building rather than GPAC. Definitely put the address rather than the name into Google Maps when you're heading over.) Wouldn't hesitate to attend another show/concert at this venue!

Germantown Performing Arts Center is a Mid-South treasure. I hope you'll consider checking out their events calendar, especially during the holiday season. http://www.gpacweb.com/eventsI attended my first concert there, the IRIS Orchestra "A Circle of Seasons" concert. Artists from all over the world converge to play for this orchestra. http://www.irisorchestra.com/concerts.html#2You could see the artists' passion as they played and it seemed like they were really having a lot of fun at the same time. At times, the hair stood up on the back of my neck during the performance. Conductor Michael Stern is really intense and added to the drama of the musical selections. No matter what the event, the facility is pretty awesome. There's on-site parking, the concert hall has good acoustics, they have snacks and a full bar.

My mother bought tickets for Christmas for our family to see the Memphis Symphony Orchestra play some Stravinsky and Rachmaninov. The music and acoustics were great! Steward Goodyear really played the hell out of that concert Steinway! I play piano too, though not as well as him. I have used several of the same notes he played, so that makes me feel better. There are no isles between the rows and there isn't much room to walk past guests who are already seated. This means that if you are seated in the center, you have to squeeze your way past about 30 people to try to get out for intermission. It was very awkward coming and going but it was comfortable once seated. This is a big venue and a cool place, but I found the stage to be quite small. The musicians barely fit up there and that piano just barely fit on the edge of the stage. The dance floor was really small too. There was just one guy dancing on it and he had one chopstick he kept waving around. He seemed to be having fun so nobody stopped him.

GPAC has awesome seasons with incredibly diverse programming. My first visit was to see the IRIS Orchestra and I've since returned for more of their performances, Balé Folclórico da Bahia, Joshua Bell, Alonzo King LINES Ballet, and donor events. I appreciate the vintage feel of the place, friendliness of their staff and volunteers, full bar, and that most of their concerts/performances have pre-show events. Also, there is ample parking and not a bad seat in the house. Just make sure to get there on time or you might get a few side-eyes for making the tight squeeze and stepping over people -- the rows are tight. Check out gpacweb.com/events for info about upcoming events!

I was really impressed with this place. We came here to see the Pirates of Penzance and they had the lyrics to all the songs up on a screen at the top so we could all keep up with what was being said. This place is just gorgeous in general with it's huge staircases and awesome decor. The seats were very spacious and I felt comfortable and didn't feel like I was being squashed (like I usually do at the Orpheum). I already made plans to return for their Bollywood show.

I'd never been here before even though I've driven by tons of times. I never realized how large it was on the inside. I won tickets from Opera Memphis to see Pagliacci at GPAC so I had some wonderful seats. The theatre is comfortable, the bathrooms are clean and the lobby is fairly spacious given the rest of the size of the building.

This was our first visit and werr quite impressed. There wasn't a bad seat in the house from what I could tell, from the balcony to the pit. We enjoyed Cubanismo, a Latin band. The events calendar is very diverse and definitely plan on checking out more! Really really enjoyed the venue
