If you are looking for the classic Southern BBQ experience, look no further! Germantown Commissary has the iconic feel of a small town BBQ restaurant that has been cooking the same food in the same spot for generations. On my visit, I tried the Pulled Pork Sandwich plate - with a side of fried okra and baked beans. Everything in my meal, from the sweet tea, to the BBQ sauce, to the crispy okra was perfection. On top of everything else, the service was fast! Will definitely be back to try their banana pudding!

Service was great!! Ordered the 2 meat combo platter - ordered ribs and chopped brisket. Both were pretty dry, but the sauce was decent! The Macaroni and cheese was decent, and hush puppies were good. My friend ordered a salad with BBQ shrimp, she enjoyed it. The banana pudding was, o.k., but not the best I'd had. Overall, the rating of 4 stars was for service

As a Texan who KNOWS AND LOVES BBQ, this place was AMAZING!! The waitstaff was very prompt and courteous. As you can see from the pictures, we tried a little of everything and it was all 10/10. The banana pudding (not pictured) gets a chefs kiss

This is my third time eating here. The first two times were before the pandemic and times have changed. Inside is still the same rustic building it was years ago. Outside of the fly that was pestering me during my meal, the place is clean. Service was good. There appeared to be only one server for the side of the dinning room I was in but she was moving, and I and the other tables lacked for nothing. I ordered the two meat combo plate. Picked ribs and hot link for the proteins. Ribs were tough and lacked flavor to me. Definitely different than the last time. The hot link was good but you can't really go wrong with sausage. The sauce helped just a tad with the ribs but I ended up only eating half of it. The coleslaw was good. The baked beans had a ketchup taste to them so I didn't care for them too much. I got a piece of chocolate pie to eat later and it was just as good as I remembered from the last time. I enjoy the service here but next time I will go with a different protein if I return.

I found this place on Yelp while visiting my gf in Memphis. We were in search of some German food/beer. This place had some excellent BBQ and the staff were great. I had an excellent golden ale here and great chili! Stop in here if youre in the area! Support local and skip the chains!

The Manager for this establishment (an older blonde woman), needs a course in Customer Service. My colleague showed her his temporary license, she proceeded to say she's never seen it before therefore she would not except it in order for him to get a beer. Mind you......he's well over 50. Don't eat here go to Central BBQ instead ..

Still thinking about this meal a week later. Great BBQ. Coconut cream pie ridiculous.

Oh where to start! Darlene was the best server I have had in months. Very attentive for how busy she was! Restaurant itself is small and eclectic. Food was fairly priced and came out wonderful.

Hubby and I drove out to Germantown on a recommendation from a friend for good Memphis BBQ for locals. We were greeted and promptly seated. It took about 10 minutes before the server arrived at our table. Hubby ordered the pulled pork sandwich and I had the three meat combo of ribs, pulled pork and sausage.The sausage was the best. The pulled pork was good, but the ribs were greasy and not as tender as I would have liked. Hubby is a BBQ guy and indicated that the back membrane of the ribs were not removed, which made it hard to eat. The biscuits were a tad dry but the slaw, beans and deviled egg were tasty, It was a very generous serving of BBQ and the two of us could have easily been satisfied on the three meat combo alone. We ended with one of the most decadent and moist slices of coconut cake.
