Fat Charlie’s speakeasy

Cute little intimate spot. Visited after passing by Beale St. Looks closed from outside but was able to walk in. Don't know about reservations as I was able to walk right in and sit down. Good service and drinks were good. Liked the music playing in background tonight gave it a chill vibe.

Came in on a Saturday night and the place was dark, with a long narrow lounge, and casual seating. The staff were nice and welcoming. I'm used to going to cigar lounges where you have a variety of cigars to choose from, but at this establishment, they pick one out for you based on what you normally prefer. Ironically, my husband and I had very different taste in cigars but ended up with the same cigar. Not sure what happened but we went with it. The drinks are all served in a ceramic cup which I believe they were trying to go for the prohibition theme, except our drinks were room temperature, not chilled or iced. For an old fashion and a lemon drop, you need the drink to be at least chilled. Because it was in a small ceramic cup, I feel like my cocktail was incredibly small, it was warm and it did not taste good. They nickeled and dimed us on the bill by charging us for the cocktail and the liquor separately then they charged a mandatory 20 percent tip after they handed us the signed copy of the bill with a tip suggestion of 10, 15, or 20 percent. No where does it state that a mandatory 20 percent tip was included in the final bill and why would you suggest I give you an additional tip after you already charged me a mandatory 20 percent? That is shady.Overall, the lounge was dark and the seating was pretty average. The cost for drinks and for how it taste was not worth it. The inability to pick your cigar limits your options and the fact they didn't disclose that a mandatory 20 percent tip, would make me not want to come back.

I was first welcomed in to Fat Charlie's 2 years ago by their owner, Will the day after I moved to Harbor Town. He and his wife are great people and together they run this Memphis gem. If you like top shelf liquor, this is your vibe. This is the only place in Memphis with the selection of rums to this level and quality. The music is always on point and they have special events with some great live artists as well.

Extremely dark! Nothing fancy. Drinks are poor. Had to request ice. Not sure why the drink (in coffee cup) was served without ice? Menu is small, but taste was good. Music is played on a radio system. TV, but no volume on TV. Did I already mention that it's extremely dark inside? Not sure why a few more lights couldn't be turned on?

This is a gem in Memphis. One way in, one way out...speakeasy. Very sexy vibe. No pretentiousness. Just cool people. Come dresses up or down, 2 hours long reservations. Club chair seating in a conversational style. Awesome date night, solo or a small group of friends. Keep voices to a minimum. Good music. It's a whole grown ass vibe and I can't wait to return

Attended for my birthday. It was a good reason to visit Memphis from Nashville. We will certainly return but this time with friends so we can share this little gem with others

Service was great but smelled like terrible smoke in there. Personally would not go back but if you don't mind the smell then it's a cute place!

This is the best keep secret in Memphis. Great music and great service. Excellent selection in bourbon and wine. You should definitely check this place out!
