El Tejocte Mexican Restaurant

This new Mexican restaurant on the old strip is probably one of my favorite Mexican restaurants of all time. I've tried several dishes - pollo fundido, street tacos, Verde enchiladas - and they were all good. The birria tacos are my favorite. I don't think they're on the menu, but if you ask for them, they'll bring them. The margaritas are just right.The atmosphere is cool and the service is fantastic. Whether you're local, or just passing through, I highly recommend El Tejocole if you're in the mood for South of the Border flavors.

Got delivery from here- Veggie fajitas, chicken enchiladas, and veggie burrito. I love me some spice, so I always get a side of jalapeños just in case the cooks are trying to please the average American palate. Everything was pretty perfectly spicy! A nice kick without being aggressive or overpowering. The black beans that came on the side were delicious too, kind of like Goya black bean soup, (in a good way). Nothing was overly cheesed, oiled, or otherwise heavy-handed. I was very pleasantly surprised and happy with this fabulous dinner. I would become a regular of theirs if I lived here!

Excited to see a new Mexican restaurant in town that survived for over six months. We stopped in the other night. My boyfriend ordered a quesadilla plate and it looked great! Lots of meat, veggies, sides, all looked yummy. He liked it. I ordered a hard shell beef taco and a chicken enchilada. The ground beef taco apparently did not come shredded, which I would have preferred. The meat was finely ground, like Taco Bell, but I didn't care for the taste of the seasoning. To complete the taco was a topping of only cheese and lettuce, and not a lot of it. I was really surprised. I was expecting my taco shell to be packed full of goodies but it was not. I was expecting an authentic beef taco with a freshly fried corn taco shell. Nope. It was pre-formed and thin with scant toppings. The chicken enchilada had one and only one chunk of meat in the middle, and it was not shredded. It was a chunk. The enchilada sauce tasted canned. I would not order any of that again. However, we got some goodies to go so we could have something to eat the next day. Chicken fajitas were great but again only three flour tortilla shells came with it, which was not enough. I ordered a chicken burrito and it was a miss. Again very stingy with the chicken, and it was just rolled, not like a burrito with the ends tucked in. It didn't have the normal items in a burrito that you would expect like rice or beans or anything like that. It was just fajita fried vegetables and the most modest amount of chicken possible. I ate half of the burrito and it only had one piece of meat. And I'm not kidding. And it cost seven or eight dollars. Our waiter was quite attentive at first, but never came back after we received our food, except to give us our check. That is not really cool. We did ask for our chips to go and he did pack the chips and included a small tub of salsa so that was a bonus. I would try this place again. I felt perhaps I had mis-ordered. Maybe someone else would like those items I did not. I have experienced a lot of authentic Mexican food and my bar is pretty high. To the restaurant: it shouldn't be this hard to create food that is tasty and delicious. Restaurants in The South seem to really struggle with this. The one thing that I would say, above all else, be generous with the portions. There's no reason to be stingy. Mexican food is comfort food, and we should expect it to be a good portion like your abuela would serve. Do that. Thank you.

I stopped to eat at this new Mexican Restaurant in Sardis on Main Street. The Chicken Fajitas were so good. It's a great space to go eat. It was quite today and very clean. The Waiters were very kind and welcoming!

The food is outstanding and fast. Got a plate to go but service was good to just walk in and pick up order.

im sorry but the food was just bland not real mexican food. the salsa was good. m not the type of person to bash a business but if it is not good i give my opinion.
