El Ranchito

We went here on a whim while camping at Chickasaw State Park down the road. The town has very limited dine-in options and not many reviews, hopefully this helps. The service was great, no issues whatsoever. We got a kid's chicken, cheese, and rice which our child loved. My spouse got a regular chicken soft taco which was average. I ordered the California Burrito which was different from some other Mexican places I've been to but was one of the best. It was covered in cheese and delicious. The side order of guacamole was delightful as well but came in a portion smaller than what they charged. The decor is also pleasant with a traditional Mexican feel. They had some really nice paintings with inscriptions below of their significance to the culture. I enjoyed reading and observing them and wish more places did this. I also posted the menu below bc you can not find an accurate one online.

Save your money and eat somewhere else. The food about 5-10 years ago was amazing but the past couple of times the food I was served was cold and old. I got fajitas one time and they just put fresh food on top of of old food. The only reason why this place is still open is because the owners know people.

The food was alright at best. Service was very slow due to our waitress flirting with a bus boy instead of focusing on her job. I received the wrong order despite the waitress writing it down. Was very clean and had a nice atmosphere though. Not the best but not the worst. Go to Los Portales instead if you're craving Mexican in the Henderson area.

Just awful. We don't live in Henderson. So many red flags should have told us to leave. When we walked in, there was no one there to greet us, and no sign advising us to seat ourselves. I know that the owner/manager/employee on site could see us walk in because there is a wall divider between the back of the restaurant/kitchen area and the front that they can use to sort of hide behind to stare at customers through. No greeting - we just eventually seated ourselves after about five minutes - red flag. After we finally saw a human that was willing to help us - owner/manager walked by our table several times, openly stared at us but didn't offer a greeting or menus - red flag - the waitress seemed spaced out and confused by our simple (water and one sodas) drink orders. Dishes are misspelled on the menu - red flag. Almost no one in the restaurant, and the ones in there look neglected - red flag. No music playing - red flag. Owner (or manager) walks around staring at patrons, eavesdropping- red flag. Waitress advises that "the one cooking here tonight won't put guacamole on your fajita plate or sour cream on anything" - red flag. Waitress references "she" or "her" with a nervous, negative tone about portions - red flag. We did not get the guacamole that was SUPPOSED to be on the dish, asked the waitress for it and she said "If I bring it to ya she's gonna charge ya extra for it".... wow... honestly... just unacceptable. Had to beg for more napkins. Asked four times, no exaggeration. Had to ask twice for more silverware. Stingy portions. Mediocre, at best, food, especially for the price. Terrible, suppressive environment. The owners are obviously very stingy, greedy and hard on their staff. I don't know how this place is still in business. I wouldn't eat here again for free. Just terrible.

Getting used to this small town and its limited restaurants...:) My husband and I really enjoyed our meal here! It is the most authentic Mexican I have eaten outside of my meals in Mexico. Everything was fresh that we were served! The people there are very friendly and great prices!

This has consistently been one of my favorite places to eat. The for is very good and modestly priced. The service is outstanding and personable. The atmosphere is very relaxed. I would strongly recommend this place.

Beans were burnt! Ruined the whole meal. Lettuce was brown in spots avocado was not fresh. Cheese wasn't melted on top of the beans either.

I eat at this restraunt quite often because I love their food! Claudia is so kind! The only thing I don't like is the service is terrible!! I only go there if I know I have a lot of time to spare! Do not go if you are in a hurry..it's a excellent place to go eat some good food if you have a lot of time to spare

I had the BEST experience here! The lady who owns the restaurant is a sweet Mexican lady named Claudia. I met her and her mother and brother who were visiting from Mexico. They were attentive, kind and made me feel so welcome as I was dining alone since I was in town on business. El Ranchito is a small town place where they have regulars and keep their customers coming back because the food is good (Claudia's special is a spinach and cheese stuffed chicken breast, Mexican Style!) and you know that you are welcomed.I got kisses on the cheek from both Claudia and her mother as I left the restaurant. I will certainly go back there every time I am in Henderson!

Mrs. Claudia is one of the sweetest people I've ever met! My relative had passed away the week we stopped in and she had loved going here. I'd never been here though. We stopped in the day before we flew home. Mrs. Claudia had heard of my relative's passing. She was very kind and tried to comfort us. She goes above and beyond for her customers, especially her regulars, and I could tell it's genuine. The food was good too! We're from the Southwest and know really good Mexican food can be hard to find outside that part of the US--or, you know, outside of actual Mexico, but it was delicious. The only thing we thought was strange is that my husband asked for a quesadilla and was told it came with ground beef. We weren't used to that, but he got something else anyways. This place, the food, and especially the service are top-notch!
