El Puerto Mexican Restaurant is a decent enough place to grab a Mexican meal in the relatively smaller community of Blytheville, Arkansas, which is about an hour outside of Memphis, Tennessee. The service was friendly enough and I had a burrito, which was decent enough.

I always like eating here when I am in town visiting family. It's not the greatest Mexican restaurant ever, but it satisfies me.

We met some friends and their family at this restaurant on Christmas Eve. Although there were about 15 people in our group, and the kids sat at different tables from the adults, the service was great. They even did a great job separating the checks. I ordered a grilled chicken breast smothered with white cheese, peppers, onions and tomatoes. It was seasoned and cooked well. My hubs ordered the carne asada tacos, and there was so much meat on them he couldn't finish them all. The prices were on par with other Mexican restaurants in the area (much less expensive than restaurants here).

On our way back to Texas, my sons and I stopped in for a late lunch. We were the only guests at the time. Service was fine, maybe a bit less than I would have expected, possibly language and waiter somewhat soft spoken.Beans and beer are good, prices are good. As one of the other reviewers noted, the tortillas are bit "different". I think corn, but texture is very smooth. The white sauce (spinach & chicken enchiladas) is actually a cheese sauce so makes the meals a bit heavier. We would return.

This place is a disgrace for Mexican food. Please, their tortillas are plastic, or at least that's how they taste and feel. I ordered the "combination fajita" and my plate was 90% peppers and onions, the tomatoes on my plate tasted rotten. The only good thing about my entire dish was the side beans. The red salsa just tastes like a bottle of Ragu. No flavor. And to top off out dinner, their waiter was rude and with an attitude. I would not come back to this place again. Go somewhere else!

Meh. But let's be fair....I drove 13 hours today. I'm tired. I'm hungry and I want a good margarita. So, this could be the place to turn my frown upsidedown - but no. Let's start with the service. Pretty bad. Very nice, just incredibly inattentive. I sat at the bar - because, I'm thirsty. I asked for a top shelf margarita - which he poured from a spouted pre-made plastic container. Highly doubt that's top shelf for $1.99. Don't care about the price - wanted a quality margarita. Would have had a couple more drinks.....if I could have got the attention to get one - or two. But no. I guess sitting at the bar isn't a hint that I'd like alcohol. My drink has been empty for 10 minutes. My appetizer bean dip (which could have fed 4), came out after my meal. My sour cream showed up half way after I was done. So, not impressed. Now on to food. Let's start with the food is cheap! Quality, probably cheap too, but it's Mexican, that's what I would expect - I didn't come here for free-range, organic promises. I could have fed a family of 4 for the $12 of a la carte items I ordered! That said, it was by far the worst Chile rellenos I've ever had. I'm from Ohio and I make better. Way better. That said, the tamale held promise.....if not for the ladle full of sauce drowning it. Shame. It otherwise wasn't bad. The enchilada was passable. But would have been better if I'd had sour cream while it was hot. So in review. It's cheap. They have beer.

Ordered a chicken quesadilla, they accidentally put a shrimp in there, I'm allergic. Would not recommend because I now have to question how sloppy the food handling is.
