El Palomino Mexican Restaurant

Great food! Good prices!! Great Service!Fish tacos are really good. Big pieces of hot, steaming fish!!

Date night! We were hungry and we wanted to try another Mexican restaurant. When we arrived we had mixed feelings, as the parking lot was not well lit, but we found a spot. I'm learning that no one wastes money on outdoor lighting, this side of the Hatchie River it ruins stargazing! Okay, that's my personal opinion. Keep the country clean and full of stars. I digress... We did not mind, just thought I would include that so you can get a feel of the first impression. The building appears to be a warehouse and left me wondering what I might find inside. Surprisingly, it was pleasantly warm on this particular cold night. You could be comfortable with long sleeves or light jacket inside. Outside the temperature was a frigid 33 degrees. The atmosphere tonight was loud, and we were assured, without asking or complaining that it was not, normally. We asked about our authentic Mexican menu favorites, but they were either not available, or they were not on the menu. Despite my disappointment, I perused the menu and looked for the next best things. I ordered the chimichanga with grilled steak, although it was not on the menu and he the same with shredded chicken. The steak was soooooo good and hot! Caliente not picoso. The food was fresh and nicely prepared, with the temperature like I like it. The veggies and guacamole were cold as they should've been. Yes, guacamole is necessary...all the time. The rice was a bit on the salty side, but altogether our meal was good. We were served salsa and crunchy nacho chips after our drink orders were taken. Our server, hostesses and another floor service person were very attentive to our needs. They were very pleasant and the prices were good for our budget. I will be coming back as they did say that the liquor license was pending, so we hope to see more mature aged assortment of guests next time and possibly order margaritas and beer. The music was appropriate and not too loud. All in all it was a nice experience. We left the restaurant with chips and containers offed to us, full and satisfied.
