DWJ Korean BBQ

Located on the Highland Strip, this location is clearly meant to be packed by college students on the weekend. The decor and furniture was pretty sparse; I assume so there is room to walk around when the bar is busy. As far as the food, it was my first time having Korean bbq and it was delicious! I recommend the bulgogi. Our server said the dinner portions were huge, but we were a bit underwhelmed by the size. When you order one of the meat dishes, you get white rice with it and 3 sides of kimchi, Korean potato salad, and a bean sprout salad. The sides are very small, so be prepared to fill up on meat and rice. We also enjoyed the goonmandu (fried dumplings) as an appetizer. Overall, I really enjoyed the food, but the location and ambience left something to be desired.

Have been to Midtown location several times and always enjoyed my meal. However, this was not the case tonight at Highland. Long wait for very mediocre food. Two of our dishes were inedible and very overcooked. Server didn't offer to correct this after seeing we didn't touch our plates. (Literally couldn't even chew the octopus). The restaurant appeared short staffed this evening, and had any attempts been made to remedy our inedible meal we wouldn't have been much more understanding and willing to return. As it is, we left hungry and smelling like old grease.

Loved this place!!!! We got the three meat combo to cook ourselves with the hot plate, and it was AWESOME! Our service was great, and the food was great too. We were a little skeptical because it seemed a little....crummy inside (you won't be taking your cute Instagram selfies here), but the food was what we were there for, and it didn't disappoint! We're definitely coming back

From the moment we entered, we were met with very unwelcoming service. The waitress simply stared at us, and when I said table for 2, she simply waved at us to follow her. The restaurant wasn't busy but it took at least 5 minutes for her take our order. In the process of taking our order, she didn't say a single word and simply stared at us until I placed my order. Throughout our whole time here, she never checked on us once, and she even neglected other tables who had arrived after us. One specific table waited over 30 minutes to place an order or even get water. This specific table had to get out of their seat and walk up to her to even place the order. The worst part of the experience was when the check came. As we were still eating, she walks up to us. Once we look up, we find the check directly in our face less than 6 inches from our faces. Keep in mind, we were still eating and trying to enjoy our food when all this happened! The food was alright but the service was atrocious and definitely not worth the automatic 18% gratuity that's automatically included. Edit: the whole time I spent writing this review, we were waiting on a to go box. We had to go up to the kitchen and ask for it because she forgot about it. And instead of apologizing for forgetting, she rolled her eyes and sighed at us. Keep in mind, there is only one other table occupied with customers. Absolutely unacceptable service.

On par with other Asian food in Memphis. So if you're used to really good Korean bbq (this ain't it). Service was decent, ambiance was ok. I might come back if I was REALLY REALLY craving some semblance of Korean food while in Memphis.

I thought the food was delicious. The service was very professional and I loved the exposed bricks on the walls. I have no complaints AT ALL. I wish I could say I will be back but I'm only here to see Graceland but Memphis needs to keep this little restaurant around so it will be here my next trip

Came here for a friend's birthday diner. The place is really nice, clean and very well decorated. Staff made us feel very welcome as soon we open the door. No complaint there. We order like 6 different type meat and some noodle and pancake. None of the dish we ordered disappointed us. Everything is on point. It didn't take very long either. One small disappoint thing I have is that I wish the have built in grill at the table like the other location. That would be great. And our ticket was about 170$ for 7 people... it's not bad for 7 people at all.Will return for sure :)

This place is quaint and quite with one server; she might have also been the owner, very friendly. Food was delicious and quick to arrive to the table- I was satisfied!

Ordered the sizzling buttered corn. No carrots, no green onions - just corn and cheese. Meh.Update: I called the restaurant and was given my money back for this dish. So that's good business!
