Drake's BBQ

Service was amazing. We had 14 family members in town for a reunion and we all showed up. They set tables up for us to eat and visit and the food was amazing as well. We loved all the pictures and things hanging on the wall! The food was hot, fresh and exceptional! Looks like they have local homemade cakes we saw as we were leaving! We were so full but will enjoy a slice on our next visit!

One of the best hole-in-the-wall bbq joints in the Delta, IF you care for well-smoked tender meats and no-frills but quick service. Recommend the all-meats plate, great way to try out the ribs, sausage, pulled pork and chicken at the same time.It's located in an older largely empty commercial strip but that means it has plenty of parking. Largely a take-away place but there is a table or two inside. Employees said they shifted to take out during the pandemic and never shifted back. Flavorful sauce too.Why not a five? I ordered and paid off a piece of homemade cake but it wasn't packed in with the other goodies. So check the bag before you leave!

Drake's BBQ had plaques for the last five or six years proudly exclaiming it as the best barbecue in Greenwood, Mississippi.After having my dinner there, I can understand why it has been consistently voted best barbecue. Simply put, it is some amazing barbecue. I went with the half chicken and for my two sides, I had baked beans and mustard potato salad. What a great meal. It was exceptional.The staff was friendly and the only downside that I could see about this establishment was that it was strictly takeout. I ended up eating this wonderful feast in my car in a parking lot between a dollar store and a gas station a couple of miles down the road. Still, the food shined and I would even go as far as saying that it was some of the best barbecue I have found.If you are looking for great barbecue in this part of Mississippi, Drake's BBQ is an amazing place to head towards and while the inside has zero ambiance (and zero inside seating for that matter), barbecue is not supposed to be fancy. This was a truly incredible meal.

Stopped while I'm Greenwood and oh my goodness, this food was so good. We had tips and chicken wings. They also do fried chicken, lamb chops, steaks..

I was driving through Greenwood, Mississippi and my lunch options were looking bleak. Out of pure desperation, I pulled into the first thing I saw... a Popeye's Chicken. Thankfully though, the ridiculously long line at the drive-thru wasn't moving so I had time to pull up Yelp (and cross-reference on Google Maps) and that led me 3/4-mile down the road to Drake's -- and I'm so glad. I pulled in and there were two huge smokers sitting in the parking lot of this nondescript little strip mall that I would've driven right past. Inside I found super friendly folks, some incredible smells, and I was thrilled to see my Florida Gators represented in their wall decor. I got a pulled pork sandwich combo with two sides (the potato salad was great but the mac n cheese was ridiculous!). Everything was delicious.

This barbecue is the real deal. The pulled pork was so flavorful that it didn't need sauce. The cole slaw was on point and the baked beans were delicious. The smoked sausage was tasty as well. I made the right choice in stopping by here. You should too.

The main thing I'll say about Drakes is that I live in Tennessee, but anytime i'm even close to Greenwood (several times a year), I get me some Drakes. Mostly I rotate between the chicken and the ribs, but everything I've had here is great. Worth the trip from TN!

As soon as I smelled what the guy on the grill was cooking, I already knew.Friendly people, great food, quick service, & reasonable prices.

Excellent food and customer service. I'd eat here everyday if I could afford it. My preference is the chicken salad that's packed with flavor. The smoked Turkey legs are also a treat.
