Downtown Grille

Nice place to have a dinner in the Delta. We were celebrating an 80th birthday and chose Downtown Grille. I made reservations online but ended up having to call. I would suggest calling for reservations. I told them we were celebrating an 80th birthday but there was no recognition.We ordered appetizers:Fried Green Tomatoes: these came with a crawfish sauce which was excellent! Savory and creamy, a perfect compliment to the tanginess on the tomatoes.Duck Wraps: such a great combination of the duck, creamy cheese, spicy jalapeños and salty bacon. Boudin Egg Rolls: these were spicy. Not my jam at all. They were cooked well with a crispy crust and moist spicy inside stuffing. For Dinners:The ribeye: we're used to a $55 steak being a very high quality and well cooked. I just don't think the price equaled the steak.The bone in pork chop was very well seasoned and was perfectly cooked. There was a lot of fat on the chop both throughout and on the edges. The sides were very good! The zucchini and summer squash was the star of the plate. Well seasoned and cooked in a way that they had a slight crispiness. Simple yet wonderful. The baked sweet potato was wonderful, creamy and buttery.The Tuscan Chicken: this is as served on a bed of rice. The chicken was cooked well, juicy and tender. The sauce was creamy with sun dried tomatoes and spinach. The sauce needed salt. The Redfish: perfectly cooked and well seasoned. The rice was also well seasoned. Very good dishThe fried catfish was well seasoned and cooked well. The tartar sauce was made in house and very good. The blackened catfish was very good. Well seasoned. 6 entrees, 5 appetizer orders and 3 coffees with the 20% tip that was automatically added to our ticket due to having 6 people in our party was $358. I felt it was a fair price for what we received. Service was good.

In Greenville for a meeting and we had reservations for Downtown Grille for 6:30 on a Friday night. There were ten of us and we beat the crowd. I was kind of worried since it's a nice looking place surrounded by businesses that appear to be permanently closed. However, a crowd picked up closer to 8, so I can tell it's a local favorite. Our server was amazing! Didn't have to ask for refills, condiments or anything. She handled us really well and answered any questions we had. I ordered one of the daily specials, blackened redfish. Menu said it came on orzo, which I don't like so I subbed for the long grain rice. I added a side of broccolini. Food came out hot and in a reasonable amount of time. My fish, with that Cajun cream sauce, melted in my mouth! I didn't like the rice, as it was gummy but the broccolini was cooked as if a gold medal was the prize at the end of the night! My only misgiving about it was I wanted more of it!

Food was excellent. My favorite was the caramel ice cream waffle. I had the eggplant Parmesan. My server was the sweetest. She took really good care of me. There is a romantic/family ambiance to the dining room. Very quiet atmosphere. I will go back when I can find a bigger wheelbarrow to carry me in.

Welp, I said I wouldn't be returning here. But my brother wanted to go and offered to pay, so I was in lol! I was hoping for a better food experience, but I have to leave my rating at 3 stars. Let me start by saying that the service was great! We made reservations and our table was ready (with water on it) when we arrived. Our waitress was excellent. She was knowledgeable about the menu and very personable. The booth that we sat in was a bit tight and cramped. There were only 3 of us, so I can't imagine how 4 people would make it work.Now on to the food. They gave us complimentary rolls. At initial sight, I thought they were burnt...but in actuality, they were perfect with a hint of sweetness. The accompanying garlic butter sauce made them even better. We ended up getting more rolls when the food came and they were not as brown as the first ones and not as good either. We started with the Fried Oysters Melanieand Shrimp & Jalapeno Poppersas appetizers. They were both decent and the shrimp in the poppers were really fresh. For my entrée, I had the Shrimp and Grits. The grits had great flavor and texture, the andouille sausage was tasty, but the shrimp was a letdown. The whole dish sat in a pool of grease. By this point we were full, so we ordered the White Chocolate Bread Pudding to go. The bread pudding was bland and the white chocolate sauce was really watery and lacking flavor.To sum things up, the food is average at best. That's not a bad thing, but for the price, it's not worth it. If this place were to move their price point down some, I would probably visit regularly.

Try the sangria. The food here is good but I think some of it is over priced. I ended up getting crawfish cakes, gumbo and grits.The cakes were awesome... you get two huge crawfish cakes and they are most filling. The sauce on the too so good. The grits and gumbo were both good but should had more for the price. The staff was nice and friendly . The setup reminds me of a good date

Sat down for a couple of drinks. Some of the most well crafted cocktails I've had anywhere in the world. Don the Bartender is the MAN!What a pleasant surprise for this small town.Mojito, Daiquiri, and Margarita were all perfection.You will not go wrong here if you like a good cocktail.

What an amazing meal!!! We were just traveling through and found this gem!! Food and service were awesome!

Fantastic food, the blackened red snapper in a crawfish sauce was the bomb. Staff is wonderful. Will be back!!

Server was new but good. The decor and building was really cool. The food...man was it great. I had the chicken carbonara, an old-fashioned and chips and queso. My work partner ordered the burger, stuffed mushrooms, and a beer. The food was absolutely delicious. I would go back if I ever came back to Greenville Mississippi.

Good atmosphere & burger. Lady playing music was good also, bartender was nice. Restaurant was nice and clean, comfortable, just wish it was open more often and sooner than 5:30 pm.
